العَشْرُ الأَوَاخِرُ استِثْمَارٌ إِيـمَانــِيٌّ:The last ten days are an investment of faith

Al Quran is the final Holy Book revealed upon the Last of Prophets Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). The Quran & Sunnah is the only source of holy guidance as it entails detailed instructions for each and every walk of human life. Here guidance from Quran for the followers of Islam (العَشْرُ الأَوَاخِرُ استِثْمَارٌ إِيـمَانــِيٌّ The last ten days (Ramazan) are an investment of faith) is discussed wrt last ten days of Ramazan are so important for Islamic Faith of a Muslim for better living from Quran and Hadith of Prophet ﷺ. This is an approved Jumma Khutba from the Sultanate of Oman and translated in English.

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of ALLAH, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

العَشْرُ الأَوَاخِرُ استِثْمَارٌ إِيـمَانــِيٌّ

The last ten days are an investment of faith

Praise be to Allah, who has singled out the last ten nights for virtues and blessings, and has urged His servants to frequently remember Him and perform good deeds therein. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone, without partner, and I bear witness that our Master and Prophet Muhammad is the servant and Messenger of Allah, the best of worshippers and the master of those who do good deeds. May ALLAH’s ’s prayers and peace be upon him, upon his family, his companions, and those who follow them until the Day of Judgment. The recited verse and its translation is:

 أَمَّا بَعْدُ، فاعوذ باللہ من الشیطان الرجیم- بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم 

إِنَّآ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُ فِى لَيۡلَةِ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ (١) وَمَآ أَدۡرَٮٰكَ مَا لَيۡلَةُ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ (٢) لَيۡلَةُ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ خَيۡرٌ۬ مِّنۡ أَلۡفِ شَہۡرٍ۬ (٣) تَنَزَّلُ ٱلۡمَلَـٰٓٮِٕكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ فِيہَا بِإِذۡنِ رَبِّہِم مِّن كُلِّ أَمۡرٍ۬ (٤) سَلَـٰمٌ هِىَ حَتَّىٰ مَطۡلَعِ ٱلۡفَجۡرِ (٥)

Surah Al Qadr – 1-5

Verily, We have sent it (this Qur'ân) down in the night of Al-Qadr (Decree)[] (1) And what will make you know what the night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is? (2) The night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is better than a thousand months (i.e. worshipping Allâh in that night is better than worshipping Him a thousand months, i.e. 83 years and 4 months) (3) Therein descend the angels and the Rûh [Jibril (Gabriel)] by Allâh's Permission with all Decrees, (4) (All that night), there is Peace (and Goodness from Allâh to His believing slaves) until the appearance of dawn.[] (5)

Surah Al Qadr – 1-5

O servants of ALLAH: fear ALLAH and adopt piety and obey Allah, for piety elevates its possessor in the company of ALLAH. ALLAH says in Surah Al Baqara

وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ

And fear Allâh, and know that Allâh is with Al-Muttaqûn (the pious - see V.2:2). (194)

Surah Al Baqara – 194-Part

Here are the days of Ramadan passing quickly, informing us that its farewell is approaching. However, Allah the Most High has blessed us in the last days of Ramadan. The last ten days are before us, carrying good tidings for those who follow it. The doors of hope are opened for those who are serious. So blessed is he who strives to do more acts of obedience, and envy is he who competes with himself to draw closer to ALLAH Almighty through various forms of devotion.

O believers: the last ten days of Ramadan - with all the great virtues they contain - are like the arena in which those who are eager for the Hereafter compete, desiring to attain great rewards. So whoever ignites the torch of his ambition, following the example of his noble Prophet... He does not fail or lose, but rather he gains and get profited, as Seyyadah Aisha, may ALLAH be pleased with her, said: When the last ten days of Ramadan began, the Messenger of ALLAH would stay up at night, wake up his family, work hard, and tighten his belt. So blessed is he who has poured his soul and heart into the ranks of those who stand, prostrate, and remember. Their tears mingle with their supplications, hoping for the mercy of their Lord, and not feeling hesitant to commune with their Creator. They have mixed the sweetness of their certainty with the goodness of their request, asking ALLAH to accept their deeds and answer their hopes, remembering the words of the Almighty as in Surah Ghafir:

وَقَالَ رَبُّڪُمُ ٱدۡعُونِىٓ أَسۡتَجِبۡ لَكُمۡۚ

And your Lord said: "Invoke Me, [i.e. believe in My Oneness (Islâmic Monotheism)] (and ask Me for anything) I will respond to your (invocation).

Surah Ghafir/Momeen – 60-Part

Our Lord, glory be to Him, is close to His servants. He commanded them to respond to Him and believe in Him, glory be to Him, and promised them that He would answer them, as mentioned in Surah Al Baqara :

وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِى عَنِّى فَإِنِّى قَرِيبٌ‌ۖ أُجِيبُ دَعۡوَةَ ٱلدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ‌ۖ فَلۡيَسۡتَجِيبُواْ لِى وَلۡيُؤۡمِنُواْ بِى لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَرۡشُدُونَ

And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad SAW) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright.[] (186)

Surah Al Baqara – 186

O Muslims: What remains of Ramadan is the greatest part of it. These are the last ten nights, which the Lord of Majesty has adorned with the best and most excellence of nights: the Night of Decree. Allah the Most High says in Surah Al Fajr:

وَٱلشَّفۡعِ وَٱلۡوَتۡرِ

And by the even and the odd (of all the creations of Allâh)[] (3)

Surah Al Fajr – 3

ALLAH Almighty described it as a blessing, saying, “How great is its status” in Surah Ad Dukhan:

إِنَّآ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُ فِى لَيۡلَةٍ۬ مُّبَـٰرَكَةٍ‌ۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ (٣) فِيہَا يُفۡرَقُ كُلُّ أَمۡرٍ حَكِيمٍ

We sent it (this Qur'ân) down on a blessed night [(i.e. night of Qadr, Sûrah No: 97) in the month of Ramadân — the 9th month of the Islâmic calendar]. Verily, We are ever warning [mankind that Our Torment will reach those who disbelieve in Our Oneness of Lordship and in Our Oneness of worship]. (3) Therein (that night) is decreed every matter of ordainments[]

Surah Ad Dukhan – 3-4

The Chosen One, peace be upon him, never ceased to urge his companions to attain it and seize its goodness, saying, “Seek it in the last ten nights, and seek it on every odd-numbered night.” The Companions, may ALLAH be pleased with them, followed the example of their noble Prophet, peace be upon him, in striving in it. This is Sayyidina Umar ibn al-Khattab, may ALLAH be pleased with him, praying as much of the night as ALLAH willed him to pray, then he would wake up his family saying: “Pray, pray,” and he would remind them of ALLAH ’s words as mentioned in Surah Ta Ha:

وَأۡمُرۡ أَهۡلَكَ بِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَٱصۡطَبِرۡ عَلَيۡہَا‌ۖ لَا نَسۡـَٔلُكَ رِزۡقً۬ا‌ۖ نَّحۡنُ نَرۡزُقُكَ‌ۗ وَٱلۡعَـٰقِبَةُ لِلتَّقۡوَىٰ

And enjoin As-Salât (the prayer) on your family, and be patient in offering them [i.e. the Salât (prayers)]. We ask not of you a provision (i.e. to give Us something: money); We provide for you. And the good end (i.e. Paradise) is for the Muttaqûn (pious and righteous persons - see V.2:2). (132)

Surah Ta Ha – 132

These, O successful one, are precious times that should not be wasted except in obedience, and it is not right for them to pass without drawing closer to Allah. Seyydah Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would strive in the last ten days more than he would strive at any other time.

I say what you hear, and I ask forgiveness from God Almighty for me and for you, so ask forgiveness from Him and He will forgive you, for He is the Forgiving and Merciful, and pray to Him and He will answer you, for He is The noble righteousness

Praise be to ALLAH, who has endeared obedience to His servants and encouraged them to make the most of their time. I bear witness that there is no god but ALLAH alone, without partner, and I bear witness that our master and prophet Muhammad is the servant and messenger of ALLAH. May ALLAH’s prayers and peace be upon him, upon his family and good companions, and whoever follows their path until the Day of Judgment.

Know that these days that you are living are filled with the joy of being close to ALLAH, and the soul’s calls to repentance and return are elevated, responding to the call of its Lord as mentioned in Surah Az Zumr:

قُلۡ يَـٰعِبَادِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسۡرَفُواْ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ لَا تَقۡنَطُواْ مِن رَّحۡمَةِ ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَغۡفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا‌ۚ إِنَّهُ ۥ هُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

Say: "O 'Ibâdî (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allâh, verily Allâh forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Surah Az Zumr – 53 

Then, that responsive soul of ALLAH is showered with mercy, and its moments are surrounded by blessings. How wonderful it is for a righteous servant to encourage himself and his loved ones to perform i'tikaf during these blessed days. It is a Sunnah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) maintained until his death. Sayyida Aisha (may ALLAH be pleased with her) said: The Prophet peace be upon him, used to seclude himself during the last ten days of Ramadan until ALLAH took his soul.

It is not surprising that I'tikaf carries educational secrets and profound lessons of faith. In its corridors, the person performing I'tikaf lives in seclusion with ALLAH, so the remembrance of ALLAH is his companion, the Qur'an is his friend, prayer is his happiness and comfort, and supplication and humility are the pulse of his heart. Then his heart looks forward, contemplating the path to salvation, exploiting every moment of his time, which is the most precious thing he possesses, and he spends it only on that which will bring him gain in this world and the Hereafter. My servant does not draw near to Me with anything more beloved to Me than what I have enjoined upon him. My servant continues to draw near to Me with voluntary acts of worship until I love him. When I love him, I am his hearing with which he hears, his sight with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes, and his foot with which he walks. If he asks Me, I will surely give him, and if he seeks refuge in Me, I will surely grant him refuge.

So fear Allah, O servants of Allah, and make the most of the last ten days of Ramadan. Fill them with remembrance, glorification, prayer, and standing in prayer, wrapped in goodness.

هَذَا وَصَلُّوا وَسَلِّمُوا عَلَى إمَامِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ؛ مُحَمَّدٍ الهَادِي الأَمِينِ، فَقَدْ أَمَرَكُمْ رَبكُمْ بذَلكَ حينَ قَالَ

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلَـٰٓٮِٕڪَتَهُ ۥ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِىِّۚ يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ صَلُّواْ عَلَيۡهِ وَسَلِّمُواْ تَسۡلِيمًا

Surah Al Ahzaab – 56

انہوں نے یہی دعا کی اور انبیاء کے امام کو سلام کیا۔ محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ہدایت دینے والے اور امانت دار ہیں آپ کے رب نے آپ کو ایسا کرنے کا حکم سورہ احزاب میں دیا ہے۔

بے شک الله اور اس کے فرشتے نبی پر درود بھیجتی ہے اے ایمان والو تم ان پر درود بھیجو۔

So pray and send peace upon the leader of the messengers, Muhammad, the guide and trustworthy. Your Lord has commanded you to do so when He said: “Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who have believed, send blessings upon him and salute him with a worthy salutation.” 

He says in Surah Al Ahzab: ALLAH and His kingdom send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who have believed, pray upon him and grant him peace.

Surah Al Ahzaab – 56

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وسَلِّم عَلَى نَبِيِّنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ نَبِيِّنَا مُحَمَّدٍ، كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ وسَلَّمتَ عَلَى نَبِيِّنَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ نَبِيِّنَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَبَارِكْ عَلَى نَبِيِّنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ نَبِيِّنَا مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى نَبِيِّنَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ نَبِيِّنَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ فِي الْعَالَمِينَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ، وَارْضَ اللَّهُمَّ عَنْ خُلَفَائِهِ الرَّاشِدِينَ، وَعَنْ أَزْوَاجِهِ أُمَّهَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَعَنْ سَائِرِ الصَّحَابَةِ أَجْمَعِينَ، وَعَنِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ، وعَنْ جَمْعِنَا هَذَا بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ

اے اللہ ہمارے نبی محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اور ہمارے نبی محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی آل پر برکت اور سلامتی نازل فرما جیسا کہ تو نے ہمارے نبی ابراہیم پر اور ہمارے نبی ابراہیم کی آل پر درود و سلام بھیجا۔ ہمارے نبی محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اور ہمارے نبی محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی آل، جس طرح تو نے ہمارے نبی ابراہیم اور ہمارے نبی ابراہیم کی آل کو تمام جہانوں میں برکت دی، بے شک تو قابل تعریف، بزرگ اور زمین والا ہے۔ اے خدا اپنے ہدایت یافتہ خلفاء کی طرف سے، ان کی ازواج مطہرات کی طرف سے، مومنوں کی ماؤں کی طرف سے، تمام صحابہ کرام کی طرف سے، مومن مردوں اور عورتوں کی طرف سے اور ان کے اختیار سے۔ اے سب سے زیادہ رحم کرنے والے، تیری رحمت سے ہم نے یہ جمع کیا۔

O ALLAH, bless and grant peace upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon the family of our Prophet Muhammad, as You prayed and peace upon our Prophet Abraham and upon the family of our Prophet Abraham, and bless our Prophet Muhammad and the family of our Prophet Muhammad, just as You blessed our Prophet Abraham and the family of our Prophet Abraham in the worlds. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious. And be pleased, O Allah, with his Rightly-Guided Caliphs, and with his wives, the Mothers of the Believers, and with all the rest of the Companions, and with the believing men and women, and with this gathering of ours, by Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.

اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ جَمْعَنَا هَذَا جَمْعًا مَرْحُوْمًا، وَاجْعَلْ تَفَرُّقَنَا مِنْ بَعْدِهِ تَفَرُّقًا مَعْصُوْمًا وَلا تَدَعْ فِينَا وَلا مَعَنَا شَقِيًّا وَلا مَحْرُومًا

اے اللہ ہمارے اس اجتماع کو رحمتوں والا اجتماع بنا اور اس کے بعد ہماری جدائی کو ناقابل فہم جدائی بنا اور ہمیں چھوڑ کر نہ جانا۔

Oh ALLAH, make this gathering of us a merciful gathering, and make our separation after it an infallible separation, and do not leave among us or with us any wretched or deprived.

اللَّهُمَّ أَعِزَّ الإِسْلامَ وَاهْدِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ إِلَى الْحَقِّ، وَاجْمعْ كَلِمَتَهُمْ عَلَى الخَيْرِ، وَاكْسِرْ شَوْكَةَ الظَّالِمِينَ، وَاكْتُبِ السَّلامَ وَالأَمْنَ لِعِبادِكَ أَجْمَعِينَ

اے اللہ اسلام کو عزت دے، مسلمانوں کو حق کی طرف رہنمائی فرما، ان کی باتوں کو بھلائی کے ساتھ جوڑ دے، ظالموں کے زور کو توڑ دے، اور اپنے بندوں کو امن و امان عطا فرما۔

Oh ALLAH, honor Islam, guide Muslims to the truth, unite their words in goodness, break the power of the oppressors, and grant peace and security to your servants. All of them. 

اللَّهُمَّ يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ يَا ذَا الجَلالِ وَالإِكْرَامِ، لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ بِكَ نَستَجِيرُ وَبِرَحْمَتِكَ نَستَغِيثُ أَلاَّ تَكِلَنَا إِلَى أَنفُسِنَا طَرفَةَ عَينٍ، وَلاَ أَدنَى مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَأَصلِحْ لَنَا شَأْنَنَا كُلَّهُ يَا مُصلِحَ شَأْنِ الصَّالِحِينَ

اے ہمیشہ زندہ رہنے والے، اے ہمیشہ رہنے والے، اے بزرگی اور عزت کے مالک، تیرے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں، تو پاک ہے، ہم تجھ سے پناہ مانگتے ہیں اور تیری رحمت سے مدد چاہتے ہیں کہ تو نہیں چھوڑے گا۔ ہمیں ہماری روحیں پلک جھپکنے کے اندر ہیں اور اس سے زیادہ قریب کوئی چیز نہیں اور اے صالحین کے معاملات ہمارے تمام معاملات کو ٹھیک کر دے۔

Oh ALLAH, O Ever-Living, O Ever-Living, O Possessor of Majesty and Honour, there is no god but You, Glory be to You, by You we seek refuge and by Your mercy we seek help, that you will not leave us to Our souls are within the blink of an eye, and nothing is closer than that. And rectify for us all our affairs, O Reconciliator, the affairs of the righteous.

اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا احْفَظْ أَوْطَانَنَا وَأَعِزَّ سُلْطَانَنَا وَأَيِّدْهُ بِالْحَقِّ وَأَيِّدْ بِهِ الْحَقَّ يَا رَبَّ العَالَمِينَ، اللَّهُمَّ أَسْبِغْ عَلَيْهِ نِعمَتَكَ، وَأَيِّدْهُ بِنُورِ حِكْمَتِكَ، وَسَدِّدْهُ بِتَوفِيقِكَ، وَاحفَظْهُ بِعَينِ رعَايَتِكَ

اے ہمارے رب، ہمارے ملکوں کی حفاظت فرما، ہمارے اقتدار کو عزت دے، حق کے ساتھ اس کا ساتھ دے، اور حق کے ساتھ اس کی حمایت فرما، اے رب العالمین، اے اللہ اس پر اپنی رحمت نازل فرما۔ اپنی حکمت کے نور سے اس کی حمایت کریں، اپنی برکتوں سے اس کی رہنمائی کریں، اور اپنی حفاظت کے ساتھ اس کی حفاظت کریں۔

Oh ALLAH, our Lord, protect our countries, honor our authority, support it with the truth, and support it with the truth, O Lord of the worlds. Oh God, bestow your blessing upon him, Support it with the light of your wisdom, guide it with your blessings, and protect it with your care.

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْزِلْ عَلَيْنَا مِنْ بَرَكَاتِ السَّمَاء وَأَخْرِجْ لَنَا مِنْ خَيْرَاتِ الأَرْضِ، وَبَارِكْ لَنَا في ثِمَارِنَا وَزُرُوعِنَا وكُلِّ أَرزَاقِنَا يَا ذَا الْجَلالِ وَالإِكْرَامِ

اے اللہ ہم پر آسمان کی نعمتیں نازل فرما اور ہمارے لیے زمین کی نعمتیں نازل فرما اور ہمارے لیے ہمارے پھلوں اور فصلوں میں برکت عطا فرما۔ اور ہمارا سارا رزق اے جلال اور عزت کے مالک۔

O ALLAH, send down upon us from the blessings of the sky and bring forth for us from the goodness of the earth, and bless for us our fruits and our crops and all our provisions, O Possessor of Majesty and Generosity.

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا في الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

اے ہمارے رب ہمیں دنیا میں بھلائی دے اور آخرت میں بھی بھلائی دے اور ہمیں آگ کے عذاب سے بچا۔

Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالمُؤْمِنَات، المُسْلِمِينَ وَالمُسْلِمَات، الأَحْيَاءِ مِنْهُمْ وَالأَمْوَاتِ، إِنَّكَ سَمِيعٌ قَرِيبٌ مُجِيبُ الدُّعَاءِ

اے اللہ!مومن مسلمان مردوں اور عورتوں کو بخش دے، زندہ اور مردہ، کیونکہ تو سننے والا، قریب ترین، دعاؤں کا جواب دینے والا ہے۔

O Allah, forgive the believing men and women, the Muslim men and women, the living and the dead among them. Indeed, You are the All-Hearing, the Near, the Answerer of supplications..

عِبَادَ الله- اللہ کے بندو

 إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَأۡمُرُ بِٱلۡعَدۡلِ وَٱلۡإِحۡسَـٰنِ وَإِيتَآىِٕ ذِى ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ وَيَنۡهَىٰ عَنِ ٱلۡفَحۡشَآءِ وَٱلۡمُنڪَرِ وَٱلۡبَغۡىِ‌ۚ يَعِظُكُمۡ لَعَلَّڪُمۡ تَذَكَّرُونَ

بے شک الله انصاف کرنے کا اوربھلائی کرنے کا اور رشتہ داروں کو دینے کا حکم کرتا ہے اوربے حیائی اوربری بات اور ظلم سے منع کرتا ہے تمہیں سمجھاتا ہے تاکہ تم سمجھو

Servants of God - Indeed, God commands justice and good deeds, and bestows favor on relatives, and forbids indecency. And the denier and the transgressor admonish you that you may remember.

Surah An Nahl-90

اللہ تعالیٰ سے دعا ہے کہ، ہمیں احکامات الہیہ کو جاننے، سمجھنے اور ان پر عمل کرنے اور اپنے اہل و اعیال اور اعزا و اقارب کو ان اعمال میں شامل ہونے کی ترغیب کی توفیق عطا فرمائیں. آمین ثم آمین

وآخر دعوانا ان الحمد للہ رب العالمین- سبحان ربک رب العزة عما يصفون، وسلام على المرسلين، والحمد لله رب العالمين
