Difficulty is reprehensible, and ease is admirable
Al Quran is the final Holy Book revealed upon the Last of Prophets Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). The Quran & Sunnah is the only source of holy guidance as it entails detailed instructions for each and every walk of human life. Here guidance from Quran for the followers of Islam (ذَمُّ التَّعْسِيرِ وَمَدْحُ التَّـيْسِيرِ : difficulty is reprehensible, and ease is admirable) is discussed wrt criticism paves difficulty and praise results in ease for better living from Quran and Hadith of Prophet ﷺ. This is an approved Jumma Khutba from the Sultanate of Oman and translated in English.

In the name of ALLAH, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Difficulty is reprehensible, and ease is admirable
Praise be to God, the Most Merciful. He has honoured the believers with ease and condemned everything that makes things difficult for people or alienates them. I bear witness that there is no god but ALLAH alone. He has no partner. I bear witness that our Master and Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, the servant of ALLAH and His Messenger, is the most eager of people for mercy, and the most compassionate and caring towards them. May ALLAH’s ’s prayers and peace be upon him, upon his family, his companions, and upon all who follow his approach until the Day of Judgment. This is the translation of the recited verse:
Verily, along with every hardship is relief, (5) Verily, along with hardship, is relief (i.e., there is one hardship with two reliefs, so one hardship can not overcome two reliefs)
Surah Ash Sharah – 5-6
O servants of ALLAH: Fear ALLAH and know that “religion is easy, and no one will struggle with religion except that it will be overcome by him, so repay, draw near to ALLAH, and give good tidings.” And be the best worker of this merciful religion, striving for everything that makes things easy for people and keeps them away from hardship and difficulty.
Know - may ALLAH make ease for you - that treating people with kindness is one of the greatest acts of kindness, and making things easy for them in their religious and worldly affairs is a lead to Paradise; What thing is more beloved to ALLAH is relieving distress and opening the door of hope for people through what the Sharia has permitted and worldly circumstances have permitted? ALLAH mentions in His Book that He does not burden people with what is difficult for them beyond their capacity, so He says in Surah Al Baqara:
Allâh burdens not a person beyond his scope.
Surah Al Baqara – 286-Part
ALLAH ALmighty mentioned the guidance of the upright religion and said more about ease in religion in Surah Al Baqara:
and has not laid upon you in religion any hardship
Surah Al Haj – 278-Part
God Almighty mentioned His will to facilitate and not to make difficult things in Surah Al Baqara:
Allâh intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you.
Surah Al Baqara – 185-Part
ALLAH Almighty prescribed a grace period to the debtor, saying in Surah Al Baqara:
And if the debtor is in a hard time (has no money), then grant him time till it is easy for him to repay,
Surah Al Baqara – 280-Part
The Prophet peace be upon him, commanded people to make things easy, saying:
Make things easy and do not make things difficult, and give good tidings and do not repel them.
Abu Huraira (RA) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: There is no doubt that the religion is easy. So guide the right path and be moderate and give glad tidings to the people and make it easy for them and ask Allah for help in the morning and evening and part of the night.
Abu Musa Ash'ari (RA) narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) sent him and Mu'adh bin Jabal (RA) to Yemen and said to them: Go and invite the people to Islam and (remember, in this invitation of yours) make it easy for them, do not put them in trouble and give them glad tidings, do not drive them away and listen to each other's words, do not differ among yourselves.
It was narrated from Abu Huraira that a villager entered the mosque. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was also present. Abu Hurairah says that he stood up and prayed two rak'ahs. Then, when he finished the prayer, he began to pray, "Lord, have mercy on me and have mercy on Muhammad and do not have mercy on anyone else with us." Hearing this, the Prophet (peace be upon him) turned to him and laughed, then said: You have made the vastness narrow. Then, not much time passed that he went to one side in the mosque and urinated. When the people saw this, they flocked to him. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said: Leave him and pour a bucket of water in that place. So the water was poured. After that, he said: You were raised to create ease, not to put people in trouble. It has been narrated in a tradition from Abu Huraira that on this occasion, he said: Teach the people and make it easy for them, do not put them in trouble. When this same villager became understanding after converting to Islam, he himself narrated that this act was committed by me, then the Messenger of Allah, may God's prayers and peace be upon him, came and stood near me, but did not rebuke me, nor did he speak ill of me. On the contrary, he said: This mosque is built for the remembrance of ALLAH and for His prayers, they do not urinate in it.
It is a broad section that includes many matters, whether the facilitation is a moral matter through kind words, or it is materialistic by helping the needy person in difficulty.
O you who love ease: A person’s difficulty in dealing with his servants includes many things and various types, and among that is making it difficult for a person to provide living for his family and his wife despite his ability to facilitate it. The ALLAH Almighty says in Surah At Talaq:
and do not harm them so as to straiten them.
Surah At Talaq – 06-Part
Indeed, man is astonished at the condition of one to whom ALLAH has opened the door of his provisions, but he is stingy with his parents, his wife, and his children, among whom he should have expanded on them, and making them happy by meeting their needs. It is difficult, as well as the difficulty in giving advice, and not observing wisdom in it, as a person is required to give advice. Religion is advice. While adhering to the etiquette of advice, which includes: The advisee’s intention should be to correct the mistake, not to be asking sorry or reprimand, and to advise with gentleness and kindness. ALLAH says in Surah An Nahl:
Invite (mankind, O Muhammad SAW) to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islâm) with wisdom (i.e. with the Divine Revelation and the Qur'ân) and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better.
Surah An Nahl – 125-Part
And his advice should be secretly, not out loud, so that it remains between him and the person being advised. One of the scholars said: If you give advice, give it secretly, not out loud, explicitly but not publicly, except for someone who does not understand. It is necessary to declare it to him clearly.
One of the forms of difficulty is when the teacher makes things difficult for his students. He must treat them with the best treatment and make knowledge beloved to them in a good manner and attractive. One of the righteous said: The one to whom the Qur’an was recited, and the reciter made a mistake, the other person should not be harsh with him rather be gentle with him.
One of the forms of making it difficult for people is to prolong the prayer. The Prophet Peace be upon him, said: People! Some of you are haters (of religion), so whoever leads the people in prayer, let him do it briefly, because behind him are the weak, the old, and those who go on errands.” (Bukhari: 704)
Thus - O servants of ALLAH - the forms of hardship are many, and their examples are plentiful, and among them is also making it difficult for people by raising selling prices above a limit. A Muslim must be easy-going and gentle, and not burdening people beyond their ability.
O servants of ALLAH, fear ALLAH - and treat people with ease, gentleness and lenience. ((Indeed, kindness is not in anything except that it beautifies it, and it is not taken away from anything except that it disfigures it.
I say what you hear, and I ask forgiveness from God Almighty for me and for you, so ask forgiveness from Him and He will forgive you, for He is the Forgiving and Merciful, and pray to Him and He will answer you, for He is The noble righteousness

Praise be to ALLAH, who has made mercy beloved to us, by His grace and compassion, and I bear witness that there is no god but ALLAH, He is alone with no partner, and I bear witness that our Master and our Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, the servant of God and His Messenger, is the best of people to the people, and the furthest away from what is incumbent upon them beyond their capacity. May ALLAH’s prayers and peace be upon him, upon his family and good companions, and whoever follows their path until the Day of Judgment.
The one who meditates on the matter of making it easy for people will find that it has a great impact and many benefits. If we come to easing the burden on those who pray behind, then we find in it something that makes prayer beloved to them and makes them keen to perform it in congregation. What virtue is greater than this? ALLAH says in Surah Al Baqara
And perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), and give Zakât, and bow down (or submit yourselves with obedience to Allâh) along with Ar¬Raki'ûn.
Surah Al Baqara – 43-Part
The merchant who is tolerant with people by being easygoing will attain the mercy of ALLAH as mentioned in the Hadith: ((May ALLAH have mercy on a servant who is forgiving when he sells. He bought, he was generous when he needed it, he was generous when he paid for it, in addition to the blessing of his trade in the people’s interest in him due to his good ease. And compare this to everything previously mentioned, such as the husband’s ease with his wife, his spending on his children, his good advice among people, and so on. Thus, a generation will emerge that loves others, whose motto is tolerance, whose foundation is cooperation, and whose leadership is facilitation and mitigation. Society will be strengthened and intensified. His children will be united, and individuals will love each other.
O servants of ALLAH, fear ALLAH - and know that the best thing for you is to cling to high morals and noble qualities, taken from the Holy Book of ALLAH, and the Sunnah of His Noble Prophet, peace be upon him.
Surah Al Ahzaab – 56
This is what they prayed and greeted the Imam of the Messengers. Muhammad is the guiding and trustworthy. Your Lord has commanded you to do that when He said Indeed, ALLAH and His kingdom send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who have believed, pray upon him and grant him peace.
Surah Al Ahzaab – 56
O God, bless and grant peace upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon the family of our Prophet Muhammad, as You prayed and peace upon our Prophet Abraham and upon the family of our Prophet Abraham, and bless our Prophet Muhammad and the family of our Prophet Muhammad, just as You blessed our Prophet Abraham and the family of our Prophet Abraham in the worlds. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious. And be pleased, O God, with his rightly-guided caliphs, with his wives, the mothers of the believers, with all the Companions, with all the believing men and women, By your mercy, O Most Merciful of the Merciful, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious.
Oh God, make this gathering of us a merciful gathering, and make our separation after it an infallible separation, and do not leave among us or with us any wretched or deprived.
Oh God, honor Islam, guide Muslims to the truth, unite their words in goodness, break the power of the oppressors, and grant peace and security to your servants. All of them.
Oh God, O Ever-Living, O Ever-Living, O Possessor of Majesty and Honour, there is no god but You, Glory be to You, by You we seek refuge and by Your mercy we seek help, that you will not leave us to Our souls are within the blink of an eye, and nothing is closer than that. And rectify for us all our affairs, O Reconciliator, the affairs of the righteous.
Oh God, our Lord, protect our countries, honor our authority, support it with the truth, and support it with the truth, O Lord of the worlds. Oh God, bestow your blessing upon him, Support it with the light of your wisdom, guide it with your blessings, and protect it with your care.
May God bless you and grant you peace of mind. Blessings be upon you. May God bless you and grant you peace. Or Hamara, Sara Rizk, Jalal, or Izzat, Malik.
Oh God, my Lord, my heart, this world is my curse, and my hereafter is my curse, this world is a terrible torment.
Oh God! A believer is a Muslim, he is dead or his body is dead, he is dead or he is dead, he is dead or he is dead, he is close to you, his supplication is a religious answer or else he is dead.
Servants of God - Indeed, God commands justice and good deeds, and bestows favor on relatives, and forbids indecency. And the denier and the transgressor admonish you that you may remember.
Surah An Nahl-90
