Nissan Tekton Overview: Design, Features, Performance, and Expected Details

The Nissan Tekton brings bold design, turbocharged engines, advanced technology, premium interiors, and strong safety to India’s competitive C-SUV segment.

Nissan Tekton side view

The Nissan Tekton is a new luxurious C-SUV launched by Nissan in India in 2026. It is designed to take on one of the most challenging SUV segments in India. The TEKTON features daring design, turbocharged engines, cutting-edge technology, luxury interiors, and a focus on safety.

The word "TEKTON" has been derived from the Greek word meaning "craftsman" or "architect", as the brand emphasizes design and engineering. The SUV has been engineered based on Nissan’s "One Car, One World" concept and has been produced at Nissan’s Chennai manufacturing unit. It is not only designed for the Indian market but also for the export market.

Design and Styling

One of the Nissan Tekton's prominent features is its exterior design. Nissan has designed an extremely muscular and premium-looking exterior for this SUV. This design theme has been derived from the brand's larger SUV – the Nissan Patrol. At the front, the SUV sports an exceptionally large chrome-accented grille. Along with this, there are C-shaped LEDs at the front. These headlights come in the signature five-chamber C-shaped LED design. The front bumper has a contrast skid plate design, which makes the SUV look even more rugged. At the sides, the car has sculpted body designs, pronounced wheel arches, roof rails, and a distinctively rugged SUV shape. There can be 17- or 18 inches wheels depending on the variant of the SUV. At the back of the SUV, there are connected C-shaped LED tail lamps. Thus, the entire exterior design tries to blend the ruggedness of a typical SUV with the premium feel of a crossover.

Interior and Comfort

Inside, the Nissan Tekton attempts to offer more premium treatment compared to a regular family SUV. The cabin design is driver-centric, featuring leatherette materials, soft-touch points, contrast stitching, and tri-tone treatment for the higher variants. There are two main digital screens inside the car – a 10.1-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch digital driver's display.

The cabin is designed such that the driver gets better access to the vehicle's and infotainment systems' controls. For the higher variants, there are powered and ventilated seats for the front row, with lumbar support. The driver's seat is based on Nissan's Active Comfort Seat technology, while the top-of-the-line variant comes with a powered seat for the passenger. Other premium interior comfort features include a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting with 48 colour choices, a wireless smartphone charger, and a 3D Arkamys surround sound system. Another premium addition inside the Tekton is its air-purification system with Plasmacluster Ionizer and air-quality display.

Features and Technology

Technology is another key aspect of the Nissan Tekton. In higher models, Google is integrated, enabling users to use Google Maps, Google Assistant, and apps from Google Play. The software can accommodate up to five user profiles, which allows different people using the car to customize their connection to it. Another connectivity solution offered by the company is MyNissan connectivity. Depending on the variant, users have the ability to remotely lock or unlock the car, start or stop the engine and air conditioning, sound the horn, turn on the lights, check the car status, find the car, and perform several other ownership-related functions. The infotainment system has integration with smartphones, whereas the digital driver display allows navigation and vehicle data to be shown right in front of the driver.

Safety

Security is yet another significant aspect of the Nissan Tekton. As per the company's claims, the vehicle possesses a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating and has 6 airbags along with over 40 other safety features. The car body construction has been done using 62% high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel to increase rigidity and protect passengers. The vehicle has electronic stability control and traction control for increased stability of the vehicle and to avoid any kind of slipping. Higher variants have an advanced driver assistance system in abundance. Nissan claims over 17 ADAS features in the Nissan Tekton, such as adaptive cruise control with a stop-and-go feature. There is parking assistance too, with a 3D intelligent around view monitor for 360-degree visibility around the vehicle.

Trim Levels

The Nissan Tekton comes in various specifications: Visia, Visia+, Acenta, N-Connecta, Tekna, and Tekna+. Starting with the Visia, it has features like LED lights, a digital driver display, six airbags, and many other standard safety features. The Visia+ gets features like a larger infotainment screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering-mounted controls, and a rear-view camera. The next one, the Acenta, gets a larger infotainment screen and some convenience features. The N-Connecta, on the other hand, comes with features like a panoramic sunroof, 18-inch alloy wheels, a bigger digital driver display, connected lights, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The Tekna is the one that focuses more on premium features like ventilated front seats, a powered driver's seat, leatherette upholstery, MyNissan connectivity, ADAS, and ambient lights. The top-of-the-line Tekna+ adds Google built-in, 3D around view monitor, premium tri-tone interior, powered passenger seat, and an electric tailgate.

Engine and Performance

The Nissan Tekton comes equipped with a line-up of engines that includes a turbocharged petrol. This list consists of the T160 engine and the stronger T280 engine. The T160 engine is a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 100 PS and 166 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and aims to deliver a balance between performance and fuel efficiency. The T280 is a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 163 PS and 280 Nm of torque. The T280 engine can be mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed wet-clutch dual-clutch transmission (DCT). Nissan claims the 0-100 km/h acceleration time for the T280 DCT to be 9.89 seconds, while the manual variant manages the sprint in 9.51 seconds. Nissan provides the following fuel economy numbers: 18.5 km/l for the T280 DCT, 17.8 km/l for the T280 Manual, and 19.4 km/l for the T160 Manual. The T280 DCT comes with an electronic shifter, while the higher variants come with paddle shifters. The Nissan engineers have fine-tuned the suspension and steering of the vehicle so that the Tekton becomes an ideal car for both urban driving and long trips.

Pricing

Nissan set out prices starting from ₹10.49 lakh for Visia T160, with T280 variants priced from ₹14.99 lakh up to ₹18.59 lakh for the high-end Tekna+ variant with DCT transmission. Due to the broad price band offered by Nissan cars for the Tekton, it gives a chance for the model to compete with a number of popular SUVs in India, such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, among others.

Strengths

There are many advantages in the Nissan Tekton. Its aggressive design, feature rich interior, and T280 turbo engine that ensures excellent performance are the key aspects. Safety is yet another advantage with six airbags, numerous safety features, ADAS features, and five-star safety ratings in Bharat NCAP.

Limitations

The Tekton is one of the vehicles that operates in an extremely competitive market sector. Customers have a number of proven brands to choose from, such as Hyundai, Kia, Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, Honda, Tata, Volkswagen, and Skoda. The upgraded models can also become quite expensive as well compared to some rivals. Furthermore, the highest-grade engine T280, is provided only in the more expensive models, while buyers of the basic T160 get less power. Since this is a fairly new vehicle on the Indian market, its reliability and second-hand value will need some time to be proven.

Conclusion

The Nissan Tekton is an important launch for Nissan India as it is an important product in the company’s effort to boost its footprint in the competitive SUV market in the country. With its bold Patrol styling, turbo charged engines, premium interior, connectivity, advanced safety features, and a range of variants, the Nissan TEKTON will emerge as a strong competitor in the C-SUV category.
