India Pakistan War: Gordian Knot

The Gordian Knot is a term describing "an intricate problem; especially, a problem insoluble in its own terms". It is associated with an ancient Greek legend about an intricately tied knot, associated with King Gordius of Phrygia. 

According to the historian Plutarch, the Phrygians once asked an oracle how to choose their king. The oracle advised them to crown the first person they met at the temple of Zeus—who turned out to be a humble farmer named Gordius. To honor his unexpected rise to power, Gordius tied his cart to the temple with an impossibly complicated knot, famously known as the Gordian Knot.

Centuries later, Alexander the Great encountered this knot. Legend had it that whoever could untie the knot would rule all of Asia. Rather than struggling with it, Alexander simply sliced through the knot with his sword—swiftly solving the problem in his bold and decisive style. It was a way of demonstrating the will of a young military minded king in old ancient times when sword used to settle all complicated issues. 

These are modern times and now the phrase "Gordian Knot" is often used to describe frustratingly complex issues—like endless traffic jams and chaotic city streets. However, the phrase "Gordian Knot" appears to have profound effect upon the region called Sub Continent Indo Pak. It looks that all the wise heads of the region are obsessed with the phrase; that's why they're advocating for "cutting the Gordian Knot"; thereby taking swift and decisive military action to untangle the self created most complicated situation. Let's see the reason for the creation of the situation "Gordian Knot" in the region.

Indo Pak was partitioned in 1947 after World War-II by the colonial power United Kingdom. However, the Britishers left a thorn in the heart of both nations as the Kashmir remained the unfinished agenda of Partition Plan of 1947. India is continually negating the right of self determination to the people of Kashmir. In August 2019, the Indian government moved to revoke Article 370 of the Indian constitution; thereby changing Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, signifying aggressive approach of the Modi government to integrate Kashmir into India through a doctrine of Hindu nationalism. 

"Akhund Bharat" is a long held dream of the Hindutva Brigade under the banner of RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) which is an extremist terror group; unfortunately promoted to power with Narendra Modi as Prime Minister by fueling Hindu Nationalistic fervor. The reason for the creation of "Gordian Knot" is the "Akhund Bharat" dream. The Sub Continent Indo Pak is now a land mass of about two billion people with almost 750 millions Muslims. The "Akhund Bharat" mantra may create hatred, agitation and violence only but will never be materialized into reality, because, 750 million Muslims can not be wished away. Moreover India and Pakistan are two nuclear states with enough fire power to obliterate the whole of region into dusk and bringing the nuclear winter for the whole world. 

Can the problem arisen by "Akhund Bharat" dream be solved by "cutting the Gordian Knot" approach? The answer is plain "NO". So then what could be the way? There is an other narration about "Gordian Knot" as stated by Plutarch and Arrian; who say that according to Aristobulus, Alexander pulled the linchpin from the pole to which the yoke was fastened, exposing the two ends of the cord and allowing him to untie the knot without having to cut through it. This narration is suggesting a sane and wise way of taking up a challenge. There is "Gordian Knot" as "#IndiaPakistanWar which needs to be resolved without yielding sword through it. 

It is therefore advocated that a sane approach may be adopted to solve problems between two nuclear neighbours. It is hence profoundly imminent to replace Alexanders, Napoleon Bonapartes, Goebbels, "Sellout" Politicians and Sangh's Bakhts from the decision making and induct wise sane heads having love for humanity and peace into negotiations. The "cutting the Gordian Knot" approach (#OperationSindoor #IndiaPakistanWar) has been applied since the birth of the two states; however, the same is no more tenable. Let's think a win win situation for the both the countries which may usher prosperity, progress and development for the whole region than inviting a " Nuclear winter" for the whole world.

इतिहासकार प्लूटार्क के अनुसार, एक बार फ़्रीजियन लोगों ने एक दैवज्ञ से पूछा कि वे अपना राजा कैसे चुनें। दैवज्ञ ने उन्हें ज़ीउस के मंदिर में मिलने वाले पहले व्यक्ति को ताज पहनाने की सलाह दी - जो गॉर्डियस नाम का एक विनम्र किसान निकला। सत्ता में अपने अप्रत्याशित उदय का सम्मान करने के लिए, गॉर्डियस ने अपनी गाड़ी को मंदिर में एक असंभव जटिल गाँठ से बाँध दिया, जिसे गॉर्डियन गाँठ के रूप में जाना जाता है। सदियों बाद, सिकंदर महान को इस गाँठ का सामना करना पड़ा। किंवदंती है कि जो कोई भी गाँठ खोल सकता है वह पूरे एशिया पर शासन करेगा। इससे जूझने के बजाय, सिकंदर ने बस अपनी तलवार से गाँठ को काट दिया - अपनी साहसिक और निर्णायक शैली में समस्या को तेज़ी से हल किया।

ये आधुनिक समय है और अब "गोर्डियन नॉट" वाक्यांश का इस्तेमाल अक्सर निराशाजनक रूप से जटिल मुद्दों का वर्णन करने के लिए किया जाता है - जैसे अंतहीन ट्रैफ़िक जाम और अव्यवस्थित शहर की सड़कें। हालाँकि, "गोर्डियन नॉट" वाक्यांश का उपमहाद्वीप इंडो पाक नामक क्षेत्र पर गहरा प्रभाव पड़ता है। ऐसा लगता है कि क्षेत्र के सभी बुद्धिमान प्रमुख इस वाक्यांश से ग्रस्त हैं; इसलिए वे "गोर्डियन नॉट को काटने" की वकालत कर रहे हैं; जिससे स्वयं निर्मित सबसे जटिल स्थिति को सुलझाने के लिए त्वरित और निर्णायक सैन्य कार्रवाई की जा सके। आइए क्षेत्र में "गोर्डियन नॉट" की स्थिति के निर्माण का कारण देखें।

द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध के बाद 1947 में औपनिवेशिक शक्ति यूनाइटेड किंगडम द्वारा भारत-पाक का विभाजन किया गया था। हालाँकि, अंग्रेजों ने दोनों देशों के दिलों में एक कांटा छोड़ दिया क्योंकि कश्मीर 1947 की विभाजन योजना का अधूरा एजेंडा बना रहा। भारत लगातार कश्मीर के लोगों के आत्मनिर्णय के अधिकार को नकार रहा है। अगस्त 2019 में, भारत सरकार ने भारतीय संविधान के अनुच्छेद 370 को रद्द करने का कदम उठाया; जिससे जम्मू और कश्मीर की विशेष स्थिति बदल गई, जो हिंदू राष्ट्रवाद के सिद्धांत के माध्यम से कश्मीर को भारत में एकीकृत करने के लिए मोदी सरकार के आक्रामक दृष्टिकोण को दर्शाता है।

"अखंड भारत" आरएसएस (राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ) के बैनर तले हिंदुत्व ब्रिगेड का एक पुराना सपना है, जो एक चरमपंथी आतंकवादी समूह है; दुर्भाग्य से नरेंद्र मोदी के प्रधानमंत्री बनने के बाद हिंदू राष्ट्रवादी जोश को बढ़ावा देकर इसे सत्ता में लाया गया है। "गॉर्डियन नॉट" के निर्माण का कारण "अखंड भारत" का सपना है। उपमहाद्वीप भारत-पाक अब लगभग दो अरब लोगों का एक भूभाग है जिसमें लगभग 750 मिलियन मुसलमान हैं। "अखंड भारत" मंत्र केवल घृणा, आंदोलन और हिंसा पैदा कर सकता है, लेकिन कभी भी वास्तविकता में नहीं बदलेगा, क्योंकि 750 मिलियन मुसलमानों को दूर नहीं किया जा सकता है। इसके अलावा भारत और पाकिस्तान दो परमाणु राष्ट्र हैं जिनके पास पूरे क्षेत्र को नष्ट करने और पूरी दुनिया के लिए परमाणु सर्दी लाने के लिए पर्याप्त अग्नि शक्ति है।

क्या "अखंड भारत" के सपने से उत्पन्न समस्या का समाधान "गॉर्डियन नॉट को काटकर" किया जा सकता है? इसका उत्तर स्पष्ट रूप से "नहीं" है। तो फिर क्या तरीका हो सकता है? प्लूटार्क और एरियन द्वारा बताए गए "गॉर्डियन नॉट" के बारे में एक और कथन है; जो कहते हैं कि अरिस्टोबुलस के अनुसार, सिकंदर ने उस खंभे से लिंचपिन को खींच लिया जिस पर जूआ बंधा हुआ था, जिससे रस्सी के दोनों सिरे उजागर हो गए और उसे बिना काटे गाँठ खोलने की अनुमति मिल गई। यह कथन चुनौती लेने का एक समझदार और बुद्धिमान तरीका सुझा रहा है। "गॉर्डियन नॉट" के रूप में "#भारतपाकिस्तान युद्ध" है जिसे तलवार के बिना हल करने की आवश्यकता है।

इसलिए यह वकालत की जाती है कि दो परमाणु पड़ोसियों के बीच समस्याओं को हल करने के लिए एक समझदार दृष्टिकोण अपनाया जा सकता है। इसलिए यह बहुत जरूरी है कि निर्णय लेने की प्रक्रिया से अलेक्जेंडर, नेपोलियन बोनापार्ट, गोएबल्स, "बेचने वाले" राजनेताओं और संघ के बख्तों को हटाकर मानवता और शांति के लिए प्यार रखने वाले समझदार लोगों को बातचीत में शामिल किया जाए। "गॉर्डियन नॉट को काटने" का दृष्टिकोण (#ऑपरेशन सिंदूर #भारतपाकिस्तान युद्ध) दोनों राज्यों के जन्म के बाद से लागू किया गया है; हालाँकि, यह अब और अधिक तर्कसंगत नहीं है। आइए दोनों देशों के लिए एक जीत की स्थिति के बारे में सोचें जो पूरे क्षेत्र के लिए समृद्धि, प्रगति और विकास ला सकती है, न कि पूरी दुनिया के लिए "परमाणु सर्दी" को आमंत्रित कर सकती है।
