The BCCI has sent a firm message to Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma: domestic cricket participation will no longer be optional. Both players are set to return to the Indian ODI squad for the three-match series against Australia starting October 19, marking their first appearances since the Champions Trophy 2025. BCCI chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar emphasized that selection will be based strictly on merit, and even senior stars like Kohli and Sharma must now take part in domestic tournaments such as the Vijay Hazare Trophy whenever they are available.
