What Israel can learn from Modi: National honor as strategic asset?

From India, we learn that national honor is not a luxury but a far-reaching strategic asset. If Israel desires to secure its standing and security, it must project firm resilience to the world.

In recent months, US–India relations have been mired in a severe trust crisis. The background to this lies in a deep dispute over tariff policy, India’s special ties with Russia, and the US administration’s approach to India’s border clashes with Pakistan.

President Donald Trump repeatedly emphasized his dissatisfaction with the high tariffs that New Delhi imposes on imports from the United States – “among the highest in the world,” as he put it – and responded by raising his own tariffs to a cumulative level of about 50%.

Still, that was only one front. India, which maintains close relations with Russia and is considered the largest consumer of Russian crude oil, found itself subjected to a harsh verbal attack by Trump: he called the economies of Russia and India “dead economies,” claimed they were “crushing each other,” and accused their trade of fueling Moscow’s war machine against Ukraine. He went so far as to say that Prime Minister Narendra Modi “doesn’t care about the dead in Ukraine,” a statement that was a personal insult and an affront to India’s emerging power status.

In the border clashes with Pakistan, Trump tried to position himself as a neutral mediator. He allegedly applied heavy pressure, threatened sanctions on both sides, and led to a ceasefire. However, eventually Pakistan praised his mediation to the extent of proposing to award him a Nobel Peace Prize. New Delhi, on the other hand, chose to downplay Washington’s role – another expression of the deepening distrust between the two states.

Modi’s severe response was not only rooted in economic and military tension, but primarily stemmed from a sense of personal and national honor being offended. He declined four phone calls from President Trump. In this context, Israel can learn something important.

The Khan Yunis incident

On August 25, an Israeli shell hit Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis. Some twenty people were killed, including journalists. Within hours, the IDF spokesman, the chief of staff, and the prime minister rushed to respond. The IDF spokesman issued an apology in English for harming “innocent civilians.” The chief of staff announced there would be an immediate investigation. The prime minister referred to the event as a “tragic incident” that would be investigated thoroughly.

These three statements conveyed not only a desire to calm international public opinion but also a notable degree of anxiety – and perhaps even panic – about the incident’s consequences. In their actions, the leaders transmitted a message of taking some responsibility for the killing of uninvolved civilians, a message that could set a dangerous precedent in terms of international law.

As events later revealed, the reality was far more complex: many of the victims belonged to Hamas. However, instead of waiting for complete information, Israel projected outward a message of acceptance of responsibility – one that weakens its diplomatic and legal standing.

The lesson from India

This is precisely where we should return to Modi’s example. Faced with unprecedented verbal assaults from Trump, Modi did not rush to apologize; instead, he chose to respond forcefully, upholding national honor.

Perhaps his approach came across as harsh, but it sent a clear message: India will not accept treatment as a subordinate or inferior state.

Israel, in contrast, tended during the Khan Yunis incident to display excess transparency and anxiety – an approach that may have been aimed at mitigating short-term damage but potentially harms long-term strategic interests.

The conclusion is that a country must defend its national honor even when facing difficult and complex situations. A hasty assumption of responsibility may be interpreted as weakness and exploited by adversaries. It is precisely in such moments that caution in expression and firmness in principle are required.

From India, we learn that national honor is not a luxury but a far-reaching strategic asset. If Israel desires to secure its standing and security, it must project firm resilience to the world. This would imply delaying expressions of apology, even when international pressure is intense.

Additional Comments

The above opinion is by ZAKI SHALOM, who is a senior fellow at the Misgav Institute for National Security & Zionist Strategy; at Jerusalem Israel. Since this opinion is from a Zionist Jews Think Tank mouth piece; a caution is necessary to pronounce from very beginning. The original Jews have a history of crafting lies and fabricating truth; as ten step brothers of Prophet Joseph (AS) were trying to eliminate him and they lied and produced a truth to their father Prophet Israel / Jacob (AS). No body can deny this from any source. Similarly; hundred of years later, they fabricated a "Golden Calf" and worshiped it against the teachings of Prophet Moses (AS); while he was away for 40 days sojourn only. Therefore, the "Misgav Institute for National Security & Zionist Strategy" and similar others are a source for crafting make belief lies and then all Israelites institutions including IDF fabricate Truth; for example "Hamas is a terror outfit". the recent case of Hind Rajab film also an example.

The establishment of Israel was midwifed by Pax Britannica and since WW-II she is being nurtured by Pax Americana. The Holocaust museum LA or similar other presentations in USA are living proof. US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said recently on the Israel-Palestine conflict: "This is a spiritual conflict, a battle of the ages, heaven versus hell, good versus evil. You stand with Israel not for its government, but for the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the Law, the Light, the foundation of Western civilization." He further added "The U.S. and Israel are on the same side because their values align, and because Israel is fighting a civilizational war on behalf of the free world, not because of bribes".

The Zionist Israelites tell the world that they are the God's chosen people and state is God's given. The IDF claims that “Blessed be the LORD, my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle.” (Psalm 144:1) So " IDF controls 40% of Gaza City and is moving in to finish the job. While our soldiers fight Hamas, the world is trying to stop us, instead of Hamas."

View on X

The stark similarity between Israel and India is that both the state were midwifed by Pax Britannica and one had been nurtured since creation i.e. Israel and India are the USA's apple of the eye since 1991; and interestingly both are playing games as per script rolled out by AIPAC. AIPAC's game is quite simple since the "Fall of Berlin Wall", i.e. Hype up Islamophobic Hysteria and Propagate Muslims as "demons." Israel was always a religious bigot state; but they needed a helpful India and the best suited to them was RSS Hindutva Brigade; so Narendra Modi was cultivated through a Muslim genocide at Gujrat and brought up PM of India. The saffron brigade of India under right wing Hindu Zealots of RSS are making life hell for all of India's population including Muslims; however; the Zionist Jews and RSS Bhaktas make a perfect combination at world's affairs targeting Muslims. The advise from Israel's think tank is quite hilarious.

How the World shall Take it?

Let's first take a Joint Statement by the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem & the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem; "The clergy and nuns have decided to remain and continue to care for all those who will be in the compounds. We do not know exactly what will happen on the ground, not only for our community, but for the entire population... There can be no future based on captivity, displacement of Palestinians or revenge." Its an advise after IDF has decided to unleash a fresh reign of terror against Muslims in Gaza and West Bank.

Now look at the image as below; released by IDF. Its a Star of David drawn on the lands of Gaza. Not a single mainstream newspaper or broadcaster has said a thing about Israel carving star of david into Gaza. Not one... Israel can ethnically cleanse an entire people & raze their everything to the ground, then mark their territory in show of racial supremacy & not a peep. Even a country like Denmark says Israel has crossed its limits in genocide in Gaza, ICC must arrest Netanyahu. Similar tactics are being employed by Indian Military in Indian Occupied Kashmir; which shows some degree of cooperation between the two states.

Conclusion

The Truth of the matter is that the world today are governed by some of the dumbest people in the history. The Irony of the history is that morons are prospering even in country like USA; a Super power and cradle of freedom, liberty and democracy. The top western leaders are proudly, unashamedly, openly moronic and ignorant, and one is genuinely not sure how the west including USA, UK, France and Germany will ever recover from this. The current leaders in USA and top EU countries make George W Bush and Sarah Palin of USA look like savants. The subject about honour, dignity, pride and resilience is probably out of education and politics in the Western Countries and these days they are best personified by the habitants of Gaza. This is quite evident and amazingly soul stirring for all sane souls of the world.
