Turning Exposed Patios into Comfortable Everyday Spaces

An exposed patio can look great and still sit empty most of the year. The fix isn’t “more décor”—it’s controlling where wind and rain hit and creating one reliable dry path. In projects with LGC Remodeling, a walkthrough should surface the trouble spots. Midway through that plan deck contractors in Portland OR can show where water splashes, where doors collide with furniture, and where runoff drains. Comfort comes from a few moves: cover depth past the seating line, a partial screen that blocks the worst wind angle, and lighting that feels soft at night. Keep the main walk lane clear and add one drop zone for towels and shoes. Done right, the patio gets used on normal days, not just perfect ones. That’s why homeowners plan early with deck construction contractors.
