TP Link Wifi Extender Setup Using Three Different Methods
Tired of slow wifi speeds and sudden connection drop as soon as you move a little further from the router? If yes, then having a range extender is a practical decision. The range extender not only offers wider coverage but also strengthens the existing wifi signals and offers seamless connectivity for multiple devices. When it comes to range extender, one name that stands out is TP Link. So if you also got one for your abode or office space then through this post you can learn about the TP Link wifi extender setup process. The setup process is simple and can be done using three different methods. For complete details, check out the whole post.
For conducting TP Link wifi extender setup using WPS button, you need a router with WPS functionality. Now follow these steps for successful installation:
- Deploy the TP Link extender as close as possible to the router. Now using the power adapter, power it on. The extender will take up to a couple of seconds to boot up properly. So wait till the extender shows a stable light on its front panel.
- Now locate the WPS button on the router. As you find it, press it down. The WPS light will start flickering. If this is not the case then re-press the button till the light starts to flicker.
- Thereafter without letting go of a single second, locate and push the WPs button of the TP Link wifi extender. The WPS LED will blink.
- The synchronisation will take around two minutes. So meanwhile all you can do is wait. After two minutes the WPS lights will turn stable thus indicating a successful TP Link wifi extendersetup. But even if after two minutes there is no light then it means you have to redo the setup all over again.
- Once the setup is complete, move the extender to the center of the router and problematic area (wifi dead zone).
- As you repower the extender, check the smart indicators. All of them must be lit up steadily. Now pair the device and test the connection.
If the router doesn't have a WPS button, you need not panic because you still have two other alternatives. One is using a Web browser. This method allows you to have a better control on the extender's settings. The steps for it are as follows:
- First deploy the TP Link extender at a place where the router's signals drops to fifty percent and is also halfway from the wifi dead zone.
- Once the deployment is done, power on the extender and let it boot up.
- Now for the further TP Link Wifi Extender Setup, you need a smart device. You can fetch anything from your laptop to your smartphone. In addition to it, fetch an Ethernet cable as well.
- Using the ethernet wire, pair the smart device to the TP Link extender. If you wish to establish a wireless connection, then use the SSID and password that is written on the extender's base panel.
- After the connection is made, open the internet browser. Use any up-to-date browser from chrome to internet explorer. Then go to the address blank. Into it you have to type the login address. Use any of these: http://tplinkrepeater.net or http://192.168.0.254. After typing one of them, click on the Enter key.
- Now fill in the username as well as the password. By default it is “admin” for both blanks. Use lower letter case for typing the same.
- Finally, you now have access to the main TP Link wifi extender setup window. From the side bar tap on Quick Setup and then on Next.
- Now you'll be prompted to pick the region. Do so and again tap on Next. With this the extender will start scanning for the wireless network. From the list choose the network that you want to extend and hit Next.
- At last, fill in the password and tap on Next. Now review the changes and click on Finish. With this the extender will reboot itself and will bring the changes into effect.
