The Padam Coin Beside the Face: Why the Lotus Is Separate

One-sided, face up, nearby — the listing’s instruction for the second coin.

The Diwali Arrival Prayer Set is two coins, not one. The idol coin stands. The Lakshmi Padam Prayer Coin lies flat, face up, nearby. The lotus is not an ornament on the same disc. It is a second object. Pure brass, soft satin, two inches, one-sided. The listing is precise about placement: Padam coin facing up nearby. Nearby is the word. Not under. Not stacked. Not in the tray until next year.

The lotus is her seat. In the iconography the set keeps, it is also the arrival. A household that only stands the idol coin has used half the set. The Padam coin is the other half. Face up so the eye can find it. Near enough that the two belong together. Far enough that the stand is not crowded.

How close is nearby

A hand’s width on the same cloth is enough. The same lamp serves both. The same pinch of kumkum can mark both if the tradition you keep allows it. Do not pile akshata on the lotus until the detail is lost. The coin is finely detailed. Detail is what the soft satin is for. Offer, then leave the face clear.

Both coins — the standing idol and the Padam lotus — are in the Diwali Arrival Prayer Set at shunyawellness.com/products/diwali-arrival-prayer-kit.
