The Genius Wave Boosts Brain Power
There is an ongoing discussion about unlocking our brain's secret powers. The genius wave is a memory improvement song you listen to every day which activates your brain to clean itself. The Last Divine Holy Book Al-Quran describes Brain Power with the term "forelock" (or forehead) to discuss "Divine Control" over All Creatures. This write up "The Genius Wave Boosts Brain Power" is an ongoing discussion.
The Genius Wave Boosts Brain Power
While browsing through You Tube, one came across an advertiement about "7-Minute Brain Song for Stronger Memory"; and few seconds forced to discover more on the topic. What is a 7 minute brain song? "It's a memory improvement song you listen to every day which activates your brain to clean itself and activates gamma. Whether it works or not, it definitely made me feel better mentally so I like it! It's called the Brain Song developed through NASA. The Genius Wave - Boost Brain Power in Just 7 Minutes!" (For more details click here https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2025/04/16/3062854/0/en/The-Brain-Song-Official-Website-Neural-Entrainment-Sound-Wave-Activates-BDNF-for-Stronger-Memory-Support.html)
"The Genius Wave" is a popular program/concept, often involving a 7-minute audio track, promoted to boost brain power by activating specific brainwaves (like Theta) associated with deep focus, fast learning (childhood state), memory, and problem-solving, using techniques like binaural beats to synchronize brain hemispheres and unlock cognitive potential. Developed by figures like Dr. James Rivers, it promises to shift users from mental sluggishness to peak performance by targeting these frequencies, though it's part of a broader field of brainwave entrainment and neuroscience research.
Another team says that "You can boost your brain power in 7 minutes by combining physical and mental activities, such as a minute of stretching, a minute of deep breathing, and a few minutes of a creative or problem-solving task like a puzzle, a brain dump, or using your non-dominant hand for a simple activity. Incorporating a daily 7-minute routine with practices like these can support overall brain function".
Here in the following is the suggested "7-minute routine for brain power"
Minute 1: Movement: Do a quick stretch or brisk walk to increase blood flow to your brain.
Minute 2: Deep Breathing: Practice deep breathing exercises for one minute to reduce stress and improve focus.
Minute 3: Creative or Problem-Solving Task:
Write: Spend a minute writing down as many uses as you can for a random object, like a paperclip, to boost creative thinking.
Solve: Try to solve a riddle or a quick puzzle.
Draw: Attempt to draw a map of your neighborhood or a simple shape with your eyes closed.
Minute 4: Mental Dump or Brainstorm: Write down a quick mind map or brain dump of your thoughts, goals, or ideas.
Minute 5: Gratitude: Take a moment to write down three things you are grateful for to improve your mood.
Minute 6: Focus: Spend a minute focusing on something specific, like a candle flame or a point in the room, without blinking to build mental clarity.
Minute 7: Listen: Play a short piece of instrumental music and simply focus on the sounds.
How it works
Physical activity: Boosts blood flow to the brain, which is crucial for cognitive function.
Breathing and mindfulness: Helps calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and improve focus.
Creative tasks: Encourage divergent thinking, which helps you come up with novel solutions and break out of habitual thought patterns.
Writing and journaling: Activates different parts of the brain, improving memory, cognitive skills, and creativity.
Focus exercises: Strengthen your ability to concentrate and can help reduce overthinking.
Music: Can affect mood and focus, and listening to instrumental music can improve concentration.
Science of Brain Power
There is an ongoing discussion about unlocking our brain's secret powers. Some suggest engaging in activities that challenge your brain, such as puzzles, reading, playing musical instruments, or learning a new language. Lifelong learning keeps the brain agile and enhances memory. Such activities also help you unlock brain power by continuously challenging your neural pathways.
Another group suggests that "exposure to 777 Hz frequency has been shown to significantly reduce stress and anxiety levels by promoting a state of deep relaxation. This frequency encourages the synchronization of brainwaves, helping the mind to enter a meditative state, which supports emotional balance and mental healing".
It is suggested to activate brain power by "Doing crossword puzzles, Sudoku games, jigsaw puzzles and other games that rely on logic, math, word and visuospatial skills are great ways to increase brainpower. These types of games require multiple cognitive abilities, which challenge your brain and improves processing speed and memory".
Nevertheless, it may be said that brain power is some what a "proven science" now that essentially; exposing yourself to the reality of the subject to learn maximizes your ability to learn it. So for example, rather than having a list of dates to memorize, watch a animated progression of the entire set of events and see how everything cascades into one another. The cascade will provide the framework for each individual section to sit in.
For example, if I tell you my birthday is December 1st, 2001, you now have this single point of data with no framework around it.
But if I tell you that 9/11 happened the year I was born and I had my birthday before Christmas and I was the first baby born in my hospital and it was snowing outside and I was a 2010s kid and I loved playing the Play Station 4 and X Box One. By the way the Play Station 4 was released in 2013. I was 12 years old and in 7th grade.
Now the birthday makes far more sense, right? There are all kinds of context to hook around it. It’s almost trivial. You can pare it down to what you like. 9/11 and first baby in Christmas month. Boom! No memorization needed. This is called higher-order learning and interleaving. Ditch the memorization lists and attempts to learn things in isolation. You are doing the equivalent of learning December 13, 1983 with zero context. Build the world so you can put what you are learning in context. It becomes meaningful and far easier to learn.
The Man is a Special Creation with a Difference "The Brain Power"
If asked; a modern day student will describe that "Mental capability is our species’ superpower, and human evolution has trended in the direction of increasing it since well before there were species we’d recognize as humans. The size of the human head is as big as possible without fatally injuring a survival-threatening number of mothers at birth. Evolution, if one can anthropomorphize it, has already tried every trick in the book to make us smarter. In terms of what nature can do for us, we’re probably at the limit".
However; the Last Divine Holy Book Al-Quran describes Brain Power with the term "forelock" (or forehead) to discuss "Divine Control" over All Creatures. In Surah Hud, the concept is used to express that God has complete control over all living beings. The verse (Quran 11:56) emphasizes the absolute power and sovereignty of Allah over the destiny and actions of every creature, as nothing is outside of His control.
"Indeed, I have relied upon Allah, my Lord and your Lord. There is no creature but that He holds its forelock (or forehead). Indeed, my Lord is on a path [that is] straight."
In another Surah Al-'Alaq, the "forelock" refers to the front of the head of a specific individual.
"But no! If he does not desist, We will certainly drag him by the forelock— a lying, sinful forelock."
This passage (Quran 96:15-16) is a warning of humiliation and punishment on the Day of Judgment. The forelock is described as "lying and sinful" because the person's lies and sins originate from the decisions made in that frontal area of the brain (the prefrontal cortex, as modern science has noted is the center for decision-making and behavior).
The human brain consists of three main lobes; the frontal lobe, the occipital lobe, the temporal lobe, and the parietal lobe. Each lobe has its own special function. Yet, they all work together and complement each other. The frontal lobe in the human brain is distinctive from that of animals since it includes centers that are responsible for speaking and behaviour. It also includes certain neural centers with distinctive functions and places including the pre-frontal cortex which lies exactly behind the forehead and forms the major part of the frontal lobe.
The mystery of this verse mentioned above was only solved recently. No wonder, the Ever-Glorious Qur'an mentioned the area of the forehead as being the lying and the sinful one. Furthermore, the Ever-Glorious Qur'an said that this body part will be hit and held; it is an allusion to the area which monitors the human behaviour. So it is the body part to be held accountable for man’s deeds. It is a Divine wisdom that Allah commanded this part to be placed on the ground in prostration so that it will learn how to be honest and upright. Almighty Allah says:
“Verily, prayer prevents from al-Fahasha' (i.e. great sins of every kind, unlawful sexual intercourse, etc.) and al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism, and every kind of evil wicked deed, etc.) and the remembering (praising, etc.) of (you by) Allah is greater indeed. And Allah knows what you do” (Surah Al-`Ankabut: V 45).
Al-Quran as Therapy for Brain Power
Al-Quran is the last divine holy book and is believed to be a cure having heling effects for human soul and brain power. The Ultimate Authority ALLAH Subhan Taala has described the importance of brain power as the human being; the Man's main challenge required him to have this faculty. There are many verses of Al-Quran which reflects upon the importance of having brain power and here in the following Surah Al-Insan is being quoted:-
"Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing".
"Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving." (Surah Al-Insan 76:2-3)
The Quran itself is described as a source of healing (shifa) and mercy for believers, providing spiritual, mental, and emotional cures for ailments, not just physical ones, through reflection (tadabbur), recitation, and understanding its guidance as stated in verses like Surah Al-Isra ("And We send down of the Quran that which is healing and a mercy to those who believe..."17:82).
Surah Yunus ("O mankind, there has come to you an admonition from your Lord and a healing for what is in the breasts, and guidance and mercy for the believers".10:57)
Al-Quran is a divine prescription for “Spiritual & Mental Calm"; inner peace, clarity, and strength, complementing worldly remedies, with the ultimate healer being ALLAH. Moreover; the beautiful verses and rhythmic recitation of Al-Quran promote peace, reducing symptoms of stress and depression.
Surah Rehman therapy involves reciting Surah Al-Rehman (the 55th chapter of the Quran) for spiritual healing, often with specific practices like focused listening and breathing exercises with intentions (niyyah) for well-being, aiming to relieve stress, depression, anxiety, and physical ailments, making it a blend of faith, concentration, and holistic care.
Conclusion
"Brain power" is essentially the measure of how effectively our brain functions and its benefits are far-reaching. A high-functioning, healthy brain is the command center for our entire being, influencing everything from automatic bodily functions to complex emotions, memory, and decision-making. The NASA's "Genius Wave" or music may boost brain power; however, the real brain power booster shall be Al-Quran or other Holy Books as well.
ALLAH Subhan Taala has created us, the human beings-the Man, as a special being and has provided certain faculties differentiated from all other creatures. The "brain power", the thinking mind, the "forelock" is the powerful source that inflicts all the decisions made by "The Man." It is, therefore, necessary for us to nurture and train our "brain power"; so as to succeed in this life and hereafter as guided by Al-Quran.
