Why Salt and Ammonia Attack Modules Faster Than Sunlight

How the IEC 61701 Test Works

A control sample is kept aside to separate the effect of the exposure from normal variation.

The salt mist corrosion test includes checks such as visual inspection, maximum power, insulation, wet leakage current and earth-bonding continuity. The standard requires that corrosion or mechanical damage must not materially impair the module's function. It also refers to IEC 61215 and IEC 61730 for relevant pass criteria.
