Russia is the world's largest country which is almost home to 176 different people groups but Russia is putting pressure on countries that were part of Soviet states such as Ukraine to annex it with Russia. State officials or the President is taking control of the institutes provoking feelings of nationalism among people. Western countries are accusing Russia of having a Political Agenda. Last year Russia invaded Ukraine on 24 February 2022. This attack has been considered a major attack on European countries since World War II. Thousands of causalities have occurred on both sides. Many of the Ukrainian soldiers have been tortured by the Russian forces. Massive displacement accounts for 8 million have taken place since the invasion within the country. Almost 8.2 million have fled the country. The repercussion of war includes environmental damage, causalities, and food crises worldwide. 

Causes of Russia-Ukraine war:

Ukraine became an independent country after the disintegration of the Soviet Union in 1991. The country was trying to extend its ties with the European Union and NATO (A western military alliance) after that a surge was seen between Russia and Ukraine. Russia always wants to annex Ukraine with it that’s why a recent mount in the activities is seen which eventually escalates into war. Russia wants to annex Ukraine likewise it did in 2014 illegally to annex Crimea. But Ukraine always wanted to proclaim its independent territory. 

Russia accusations and demands:

Russia has always accused Ukraine of repressing Russian communities and Russophobia. It is claimed by President Putin that it is a first step towards genocide. The international community has dismissed the claims made by Russia. Putin has claimed that Ukraine has a neo-Nazism philosophy behind the invoking of people. Zelensky the president of Ukraine has said the claims of Russia as false accusations. Although the international community has replied to Russia's claim that Russia doesn’t need any influence on whether Ukraine joins NATO or not.

Russia's attacks on Ukraine with self-proclaim accusations have proved a disaster for Russia not only militarily, economically, and geopolitically, but also have reduced the reputation of Russia on the international front. It has altered the geopolitical picture of Russia and it has to bear the cost of war in billion

Russia's invasion began in back to 24 February 2022 but with the passage of time with the surge in atrocities of Russia the European and Western communities introduced sanctions on Russia which includes the President of Russia, government members of Russia, and people of Russia in general. Not only this West has reduced the economic capability of Russia by introducing sanctions on energy projects and on major exports to European countries which have reduced Russia's revenue.

Since the war has erupted offensive activities are going on between Russia and Ukraine. But still offensive activities would not make Ukraine throw Russia out. Ukraine's future still hangs on how Kyiv responds to the offensive activities of Russia. Ukraine has the huge support of Western powers, although Russia is still holding control over Ukraine. So the future is still indecisive.

Russian Foreign minister said recently that the US is a direct player in the Russian-Ukraine war. Western countries are aiding Ukraine in defense against Russia. The most recent attack by Kyiv was observed on Friday on Russia's Black Sea fleet headquarters. Curfew and censorship attempts are imposed by Russia in the part of Eastern Ukraine. Russia’s war on Ukraine has resulted in humanitarian suffering on a scale beyond what Europe has seen this century. The world is bearing witness to the deaths of innocent civilians, the destruction of vital infrastructure, and massive displacement within Ukraine and beyond.

People in Ukraine are facing crises like a lack of necessities of life like water, heat, and electricity. Life of people in Ukraine is under siege. The atmospheric conditions exacerbated the humanitarian crisis. Constant attacks hindered access to medical assistance. Millions of people have fled to neighboring countries and become victims of abuse and exploitation. Moreover, the country's economy has been in drastic decline. Healthcare institutes are under threat and the health sector has endured a $2.5 billion loss.

The Humanitarian Crisis has far-reaching impacts all across Europe. It is affecting the supply of Ukrainian Wheat supply all across Europe facing acute levels of food insecurity in the countries. What is the situation of refugees in Ukraine?

People in Ukraine are facing one of the largest refugee crises in the world. People are at risk of abuse, exploitation, gender-based violence and trafficking. Almost 1.5 million refugees have fled to Poland. People are also moving to Hungary, Slovakia, and Moldova countries which border Ukraine. It is necessary to provide refugee with job opportunities, and accommodation, to help rebuild their livelihood.

Areas affected by the war face crises in the form of humanitarian crises, food insecurity, and mental health traumas. International communities are providing help to reduce the impact of crisis.

·      Centers for the healing of the people who are affected by gender-based violence and providing legal support to people whose homes have been damaged by airstrikes.

·      The most important part of assistance is the mental health of refugees to remove the imprint of war from their minds.

·      It is essential to provide children with proper education and integrate them into the classroom.

·      Providing refugees with food medicine and clothing and with all basic necessities of life.
