Meowdoku: use the fixed cat before making a guess

A practical introduction to cat-placement logic, region candidates and notes in an independent browser puzzle.

A cat-placement puzzle becomes easier to read when you separate a deduction from a guess. In Meowdoku, every row, column and colored region needs exactly one cat. Cats cannot touch, including at a corner, but distant cats may share a diagonal.

Start with the fixed cat and trace its row, column and neighboring squares. Then look at a region with few remaining candidates. If all of its possible squares lie in one row, that region must provide that row’s cat; other regions cannot use the same row. You can make progress before choosing the exact square.

The independent browser collection at meowdoku online includes 150 campaign puzzles and a shared Daily Challenge. A single click makes an X note, while a double-click places a cat. Personal notes are not proof, so revisit them if the board seems impossible. Any complete arrangement that follows the rules is accepted.
