One of the most significant engineering entrance exams that are important to students seeking to be admitted to the best engineering institutions in India is JEE Main 2026. It is administered by the National Testing Agency and is used to get admission to NITs, IIITs and other centrally-funded technical institutions. It is also the qualification exam to students who want to take JEE Advanced and get admission in IITs. It is one of the most competitive entrance tests in the country with thousands of students taking this exam every year.

JEE Main 2026 syllabus has mostly been conceptualised on the NCERT curriculum of Classes 11 and 12. It consists of three major subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics which are outlined in the syllabus. Fields of Physics are mechanics, thermodynamics, electromagnetism, optics, and modern physics. Physical, organic and inorganic chemistry are the subjects of Chemistry, whereas algebra, calculus, coordinate geometry, and trigonometry are subjects of Mathematics. The syllabus is expected to last two academic years; therefore, to facilitate the process, it is recommended that a student has a systematic study plan and practices frequently with mock tests and questions of the past years.

Once the results of the exams are declared, the successful candidates are then taken through the JoSAA Counselling process. JoSAA Counselling is an event which is held on the basis of assigning the seats in the different engineering colleges including IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other government colleges. In this process, the candidates will fill the preferred colleges and branches and seats will be assigned according to rank, category and availability. The counselling is done in various rounds so that fair distribution of seats is done. Indian engineering colleges with high prestige allow students with fair ranks to join their colleges.
