Hello & Welcome December
December is the twelfth and last month of the year in the Gregorian calendar, following November. Its length is 31 days. The name of December derives from the Latin word " decem " means ten, because it was originally the tenth month of the year in the calendar of Romulus c. 750 BC, which began in March. When the Romans converted to a 12-month calendar by adding January and February, they could not replace this month on any Roman emperor. The month of December brings the winter solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. This is the shortest day of the year (the day with the least amount of daylight). So, now let's welcome Happy New Month of December which ushers in winter holidays such as Christmas, Kwanza, and Chanukah. Sara Coleridge said that “Dull November brings the blast; Then the leaves are whirling fast. Chill December brings the sleet, Blazing fire, and Christmas treat.”
Throughout the month of December, the Christian world's thoughts and actions turn toward charity and peace. December is also a month of lights, snow, coziness, and feasts; time to make amends and tie up loose ends; finish what you started and make your wishes come true. In many ways, December is reaffirmation month. You hear from new and old friends in a happy burst of bonding. Just maybe more people remember you than you realize. Also, think of the traditions such as all those front yard lights and decorations as far as the heart can see. "December's wintry breath is already clouding the pond, frosting the pane, obscuring summer's memory;" says John Geddes
December is the first month of summers in the Southern Hemisphere and cold winters in the Northern Hemisphere. There is a special grace, glory, and attention lavished in December. December is like the most beautiful girl in the world radiating in grandeur on her coronation day, gaining the undivided loyalty of millions of admirers all over the world. December is a festive month, which rolls in and decorations adorn streets and homes. December becomes a magical month filled with warmth, joy, and the spirit of togetherness. It's during this enchanting season and romantic time that many couples decide to take their relationship to the next level by getting engaged. Terri Guillemets says; "The color of springtime is in the flowers; the color of winter is in the imagination."
December is a special month also because the celebrated " Christmas Day" falls on 25th December. Christmas is a widely celebrated Christian holiday, known for its decorations and the figure of Santa Claus. The word "Christmas" means "Feast day of Christ" and marks the annual celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. All of Christian World celebrate the most wonderful time of the year—Christmas! The Christmas season is all about love, sharing, and togetherness. It's a time to create memories, appreciate the blessings in our lives, and spread kindness to those around us. Let's believe in the magic of Christmas. Love is the true spirit of Christmas. This holy season is reason to be jolly; be merry and shine brightly. "December, the last, loveliest smile of the year;" said by William Cullen Bryant.
December borne are fiercely loyal. They will fight for you the moment they hear someone uttering anything behind your back, will stand by your side through thick and thin and be your pillar of support at every step in life. Also, if a December born commits to you, then there is no looking back for them. December birthdays hold a unique charm, marked by a blend of festive cheer, cultural significance, and natural beauty. Individuals born in this month often embody a mix of generosity, resilience, and warmth, making them truly remarkable. Norman Vincent Peale says that " Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful;" and Will Ferrell said that "The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear," and "Christmas is not as much about opening our presents as opening our hearts" added by Janice Maeditere.
December is a sad month for some people because of reduced level of sunlight in fall and winter may cause winter-onset SAD. This decrease in sunlight may disrupt your body's internal clock and lead to feelings of depression. Many people feel lonely during holidays which attaches great warmth during this month. The absence of a romantic partner or a close family seems magnified during this busy time when we're all supposed to be going to parties, exchanging gifts, and enjoying jolly feelings with loved ones.
The cold winter months are famous for bringing with them a sad and gloomy atmosphere. As the days of November come to an end and December starts rising in glory, the temperature dips at that spot and people are gripped by chilly, cold waves. The hot flashes of the summers are now replaced by the cold, dry waves of winter air. And as the sun starts setting earlier, with each passing day, our urge to snuggle inside a cozy blanket, with a cup of hot chocolate and our favourite movie grows more and more.
December Birthstone Color is Blue. The traditional December birthstone is the Blue Zircon, but there are various alternatives that are considered representative of December including turquoise, blue topaz and tanzanite. December has not one, but two lovely birth flowers: holly and narcissus! Holly, with its shiny green leaves and red berries, symbolises happiness and is a favourite for Christmas decorations. It even has a history with the ancient druids.
Henry Wadsworth Longfello says that "In December ring Every day the chimes; Loud the gleemen sing In the streets their merry rhymes. Let us by the fire Ever higher Sing them till the night expire!" Kiran Bantawa, wrote in Bare Trees " A bare tree stands with roots on both ends in December days. "December, being the last month of the year, cannot help but make us think of what is to come" as aid by Fennel Hudson, in "A Meaningful Life" – Fennel’s Journal – No. 1. Oliver Herford, writes in "Hope"; " I heard a bird sing in the dark of December, A magical thing and sweet to remember: “We are nearer to spring than we were in September”, I heard a bird sing in the dark of December", and finally " Each year of your life is a wonderful ride, with the most hopeful time being when December turns the keys over to January" said by Efiosiugbore Adebayo.
A song "If We Make It Through December"
A song "If We Make It Through December" by American country music singer Merle Haggard and the Strangers.
It was released in October 1973.
If we make it through December
Everything's gonna be all right I know
It's the coldest time of winter
And I shiver when I see the fallin' snow
If we make it through December
I got plans of bein in a warmer town come summer time
Maybe even California
If we make it through December we'll be fine
I got laid off down at the factory
And there timings not the greatest in the world
Heaven knows I been workin' hard
I wanted Christmas to be right for daddy's girl
Now I don't mean to hate December
It's meant to be the happy time of year
And why my little girl don't understand
Why daddy can't afford no Christmas here
If we make it through December
Everything's gonna be alright I know
It's the coldest time of winter
And I shiver when I see the fallin' snow
If we make it through December
I got plans of bein' in a warmer town come summer time
Maybe even California
If we make it through December we'll be fine
