This is April, a month of rebirth, regrowth, and renewal. “April rains transform fields from plain, to lovely wildflower-filled terrain.” “April is a reminder that something better is always around the corner.” This write up "Hello and Welcome April" is that "Our spring has come at last with the soft laughter of April suns and shadow of April showers".

Hello & Welcome April

Since some of the Roman months were named in honor of divinities, the name April comes from the Latin name "Aprilis", but some speculate that the name comes from the Latin word "aperire", which means "to open," presumably because it is during April that most of those beautiful spring flowers open up. In ancient Roman, the month of April was closely associated with the Roman goddess Venus, who symbolized love, prosperity, and fertility. It's interesting to note that the corresponding goddess in Greek myth is Aphrodite, and some historians have thought that the month was actually named after her. “In the garden of love, April is the season of blooming hearts” and “Like a symphony of laughter, April plays the melody of joy for the nature lovers.”

The Anglo-Saxons called April ēastre-monaþ. The Venerable Bede says in The Reckoning of Time that this month ēastre is the root of the word Easter. He further states that the month was named after a goddess Eostre whose feast was in that month. It is also attested by Einhard in his work, Vita Karoli Magni. In China the symbolic ploughing of the earth by the emperor and princes of the blood took place in their third month, which frequently corresponds to April. In Ancient Rome, the festival of Cerealia was held for seven days from mid-to-late April. “In April, nature awakens from its winter slumber, painting the world in hues of green and floral brilliance.”

April is commonly associated with the season of spring in parts of the Northern Hemisphere and autumn in parts of the Southern Hemisphere; moreover, it is the seasonal equivalent to October in the Southern Hemisphere and vice versa. Spring begins in March but blossoms in April as the Sun after equinox starts to show its presence more effectively. April is the month dedicated to the goddess of love and beauty, the one we all know as Venus. It’s hardly surprising then that we dress in more lightweight clothing, are more driven by romance, are more attracted to each other, and this attitude is shown even by all animal kingdom during magnificent month of April. Emma Racine de Fleur narrates about Spring that “In springtime, love is carried on the breeze. Watch out for flying passion and kisses whizzing by your head.”

April begins on the same day of the week as July, and also January in leap years. It ends on the same day of the week as December in every year. In common years, it begins on the same day of the week as January and October of the previous year and ends on the same day of the week as July of the previous year. In leap years, it begins on the same day of the week as May of the previous year and ends on the same day of the week as January, February, and October of the previous year.

In years preceding common years, April begins on and ends on the same day of the week as September and begins on the same day of the week as December of the following year. In years preceding leap years, it begins and ends on the same day of the week as June and ends on the same day of the week as March of the following year.

By the meteorological calendar, spring starts in March; ending on 31 May, and so the April is mid Spring. However, the April is the month of blossoming as nature erupts in all the beauty that reflects through flowers and birds singing together. William Shakespeare has said "April hath put a spirit of youth in everything." John Barrymore said that "Happiness often sneaks in a door that you did not think was open”; however, in April all doors go open embracing the magic of Mother Nature called "Spring".

April is the Epitome of Spring

Although the spring officially starts in March, April is really when this stunning, invigorating seasons starts to feel like it's happening. Formerly barren trees burst into a million tiny blossoms, you get a handful of long, perfect days, and everyone is just in a good mood. Vita Sackville-West said that "April, the angel of the months, the young love of the year."

"Here cometh April again, and as far as I can see the world hath more fools in it than ever" is said by Charles Lamb, who might have been stricken by 1st April "Fools Day" parasite. However, Christopher Morley thinks differently as he been quoted "April prepares her green traffic light and the world thinks, 'Go!'. Similarly, Byron Caldwell Smith; said "Our spring has come at last with the soft laughter of April suns and shadow of April showers." Nevertheless Geoffrey B. Charlesworth makes a bold statement as “Spring makes its own statement, so loud and clear that the gardener seems to be only one of the instruments, not the composer.”

"I have seen the Lady April bringing the daffodils,

Bringing the springing grass and the soft warm April rain."

~ John Masefield

“There is no glory in star or blossom till looked upon by a loving eye; There is no fragrance in April breezes till breathed with joy as they wander by,” said by William Cullen Bryant and Bishop Reginald Heber said that “Spring unlocks the flowers to paint the laughing soil.” “April was just beginning, and after the warm spring day it turned cooler, slightly frosty, and a breath of spring could be felt in the soft, cold air” is quoted by Anton Chekov. Lastly Robin Williams said “Spring is nature’s way of saying, ‘Let’s party!”.

“April is the time to turn over a new leaf” as said by Terri Guillemets. Earl Nightingale has been quoted to have said “We must radiate success before it will come to us. We must become mentally, from an attitude standpoint, the people we wish to become.” Jim Carrey has reflected that “It is our intention. Our intention is everything. Nothing on this planet happens without it. Not one single thing has ever been accomplished without intention.”

اس بار جو "ایندھن" کے لیے کٹ کے گرا ہے This time, the tree that was cut down, fell for "fuel".

چڑیوں کو بڑا پیار تھا اس بوڑھے شجر سے  The birds loved this old tree very much.

Sleep gives us a chance to refocus on the essence of who we are; and perhaps the winters are the Nature's sleeping period and it comes alive in Spring. James Allen has said that “A person is only limited by the thoughts he chooses”, so is the bounties of Mother Nature; its available to those who take time to observe, watch, listen and converse with Nature. Walt Disney has wisely reflected that “If you can dream it, you can do it.” Remember that “You are the creator of your own reality” as quoted by Esther Hicks. “The voice of beauty speaks softly; it creeps only into the most fully awakened souls”; said by Friedrich Nietzsche.

“When the groundhog casts his shadow

And the small birds sing

And the pussy willows happen

And the sun shines warm

And when the peepers peep

Then it is Spring

~ Margaret Wise Brown, from Pussy Willow

A Song for April by Sir Charles George Douglas Roberts

List! list! The buds confer.

This noonday they've had news of her;

The south bank has had views of her;

The thorn shall exact his dues of her;

The willows adream

By the freshet stream

Shall ask what boon they choose of her.

Up! up! The world's astir;

The would-be green has word of her;

Root and germ have heard of her,

Coming to break

Their sleep and wake

Their hearts with every bird of her.

See! see! How swift concur

Sun, wind, and rain at the name of her,

A-wondering what became of her;

The fields flower at the flame of her;

The glad air sings

With dancing wings

And the silvery shrill acclaim of her.

The First of April by Mortimer Collins

Now if to be an April-fool

Is to delight in the song of the thrush,

To long for the swallow in air's blue hollow,

And the nightingale's riotous music-gush,

And to paint a vision of cities Elysian

Out away in the sunset-flush —

Then I grasp my flagon and swear thereby,

We are April-fools, my Love and I.

And if to be an April-fool

Is to feel contempt for iron and gold,

For the shallow fame at which most men aim —

And to turn from worldlings cruel and cold

To God in his splendor, loving and tender,

And to bask in his presence manifold —

Then by all the stars in his infinite sky,

We are April-fools, my Love and I.

April by Emily Dickinson

An altered look about the hills;

A Tyrian light the village fills;

A wider sunrise in the dawn;

A deeper twilight on the lawn;

A print of a vermilion foot;

A purple finger on the slope;

A flippant fly upon the pane;

A spider at his trade again;

An added strut in chanticleer;

A flower expected everywhere;

An axe shrill singing in the woods;

Fern-odors on untravelled roads, —

All this, and more I cannot tell,

A furtive look you know as well,

And Nicodemus' mystery

Receives its annual reply.

April Is a Baby by Annette Wynne

April is a baby—laughs and cries and plays;

Has a thousand different moods through her thirty days;

Golden-haired and blue-eyed—what has she to do

But laugh and cry and bloom and grow her whole life through!

April is a baby—growing with the flowers,

Laughing, crying, laughing—so she spends the hours!

Under the April Moon by Bliss Carman

Oh, well the world is dreaming

Under the April moon,

Her soul in love with beauty,

Her senses all a-swoon!

Pure hangs the silver crescent

Above the twilight wood,

And pure the silver music

Wakes from the marshy flood.

O Earth, with all thy transport,

How comes it life should seem

A shadow in the moonlight,

A murmur in a dream?

April Showers by Mary E. Wilkins

There fell an April shower, one night:

Next morning, in the garden-bed,

The crocuses stood straight and gold:

"And they have come," the children said.

There fell an April shower, one night:

Next morning, thro' the woodland spread

The Mayflowers, pink and sweet as youth:

"And they are come," the children said.

There fell an April shower, one night:

Next morning, sweetly, overhead,

The blue-birds sung, the blue-birds sung:

"And they have come," the children said.

April Rain by Mathilde Blind

The April rain, the April rain,

Comes slanting down in fitful showers,

Then from the furrow shoots the grain,

And banks are fledged with nestling flowers;

And in grey shaw and woodland bowers

The cuckoo through the April rain

Calls once again.

The April sun, the April sun,

Glints through the rain in fitful splendour,

And in grey shaw and woodland dun

The little leaves spring forth and tender

Their infant hands, yet weak and slender,

For warmth towards the April sun,

One after one.

And between shower and shine hath birth

The rainbow's evanescent glory;

Heaven's light that breaks on mists of earth!

Frail symbol of our human story,

It flowers through showers where, looming hoary,

The rain-clouds flash with April mirth,

Like Life on earth.

April's Dream by William Stanley Braithwaite

The stream's breath tastes of the wood's perfume,

Filled are the woods with foam:

And the sea like a sheet 'neath the summer noon,

With the languorous swerve runs home.

The beat of a pulse the warm sun stirs

In the air, the sea and stream,

Beckons the heart-and the soul allures

Forth, into April's dream.
