Google Gemini Intelligence** is becoming a major part of Google's next-generation Android experience. Announced at The Android Show on May 12, 2026, the technology is designed to move beyond traditional chatbot-style assistance and offer more proactive, multi-step help across Android devices.
Unlike a conventional assistant that waits for commands, Gemini Intelligence aims to complete tasks across different apps. Users could potentially ask Gemini to find information from Gmail, create a Calendar event, make notes in Keep, or help complete tasks without repeatedly switching between applications.
One of the notable features is **multi-step app automation**, which allows Gemini to handle several actions to reach a desired result. Google is also introducing **Gboard Rambler**, an AI-powered voice-to-text feature designed to remove pauses, repetitions and filler words from spoken conversations.
Another interesting feature is **Create My Widget**, which can generate customised home-screen widgets based on what users describe.
However, access to **Google Gemini Intelligence** will depend heavily on device hardware. Google is targeting advanced Android phones with powerful flagship processors, at least 12GB of RAM and support for newer on-device AI capabilities such as Gemini Nano.
The rollout is expected to begin with newer Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy smartphones before expanding to other Android devices later in 2026. Google also plans to bring AI improvements across watches, cars, glasses and laptops.
For Android users, Gemini Intelligence represents a shift toward smartphones that can understand context, perform multiple tasks and provide more personalised assistance. As the technology expands, AI could become an increasingly integrated part of everyday Android use.
