The nature has bestowed our habitat Earth, with four seasons; spring, summer, Autumn, Winter, and all of them have its own colours, sounds and vibes. We have passed the hot summer days and nights and humid rainy days of August. September is the last month of summer; and Winter Equinox is beginning of new winter season. This write up is about the end of summers and beginning of new academic year of hopes and success. "September tries its best to have us forget summer." – Bernard Williams
Good Bye August; Hello September
The human race has gone through various cycles before making society and forming civilization. The seasons were used for the calculation of the years and months were named based upon seasonal climatic conditions. A season is a division of the year based on changes in weather, ecology, and the number of daylight hours in a given region.
As we know, Seasons are largely due to factors surrounding Earth's tilted axis as it revolves around the sun. There are four seasons distinguished by special climate conditions. The four seasons—spring, summer, fall, and winter—follow one another regularly. "We know that in September, we will wander through the warm winds of summer's wreckage. We will welcome summer's ghost." -Henry Rollins
Autumn whispers begin as September arrives. The end of August marks the coming of Winter Equinox, when Northern hemisphere begins to move away from hot weathers of Summers. The Winter Equinox occurs on 22nd September on a similar pattern as of the Spring Equinox. This is when the hours in the day are almost equal to the hours in the night. The end of Summers mark the arrival of Autumn followed by Winter Seasons. Maxwell Anderson warns “But the days grow short when you reach September.”
When summer winds down, it's time to look forward to autumn activities—including the first day of fall. September (from Latin septem, "seven") or mensis September was originally the seventh of ten months on the ancient Roman calendar that began with March. September is the ninth month of the year in the Gregorian calendar. It has 30 days and is between August and October.
Out of all 12 months of the year, September is spelled with the most letters. It contains nine letters, and it happens to be the ninth month of the year. No other months have the same amount of letters as their number in the calendar year. "September days have the warmth of summer in their briefer hours, but in their lengthening evenings a prophetic breath of autumn." -Rowland E. Robinson
Welcome, September – month of magical transformations and to welcome cool breezes and warm colors. In the Northern Hemisphere, September is known as the first month of the autumn season, while in the Southern Hemisphere, it's the first month of the spring season. September marks the beginning of the ecclesiastical year in the Eastern Orthodox Church. It is the start of the academic year in many countries of the northern hemisphere, in which children go back to school and adults to colleges and universities after the summer break. We move from the relaxation of summer into a period of planning and goal-setting. Virginia Woolf said "All the months are crude experiments, out of which the perfect September is made."
"The symbolism of September month focuses on refocusing our energies". It's almost as if the start of the academic year has ingrained in us the idea that September is a time for fresh starts, making it the perfect moment to refocus and realign with our intentions. Raquel Franco said that "And then the sun took a step back, the leaves lulled themselves to sleep, and autumn was awakened." Further to this, Helen Hunt Jackson says "By all these lovely tokens, September days are here. With summer's best of weather and autumn's best of cheer."
Patience Strong has said about the month of September that "September! I never tire of turning it over and over in my mind. It has warmth, depth, and colour. It glows like old amber." Wallace Stegner added that "Another fall, another turned page: there was something of jubilee in that annual autumnal beginning, as if last year's mistakes had been wiped clean by summer." "The windows are open, admitting the September breeze: a month that smells like notepaper and pencil shavings, autumn leaves and car oil. A month that smells like progress and moving on." said by Lauren Oliver
Welcome to the month of September, where morning are crisp and afternoons are golden, and then embrace the cozy comfort of September evenings. So September is the month where the summer and fall dance together. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis said that "Nostalgia–that's the autumn, dreaming through September. Just a million lovely things I will always remember." Further to this added "There is a clarity about September... the sun seems brighter, the sky more blue, the white clouds take on marvelous shapes; the moon is a wonderful apparition, rising gold, cooling to silver; and the stars are so big," by Faith Baldwin. “But when fall comes, kicking summer out on its treacherous ass as it always does one day sometime after the midpoint of September, it stays awhile like an old friend that you have missed,” said by Stephen King.
"Louisiana in September was like an obscene phone call from nature. The air —moist, sultry, secretive, and far from fresh—felt as if it were being exhaled into one's face. Sometimes it even sounded like heavy breathing." -Tom Robbins.
" O Sweet September " by George Arnold
"O sweet September, thy first breezes bring
The dry leaf's rustle and the squirrel's laughter,
The cool fresh air whence health and vigor spring
And promise of exceeding joy hereafter."
"September " by Hayet Ben Bada
"When I flash back to the lovely days of September
Where I've kept some dreams and stories to remember
Something like old streets and avenues to wander
Something like my toys when I was younger
I have a fond belief that September will stay forever
There were many things in September, sweet and tender
Something like love, something like adventure
Something like childhood, something like the rain, like the water
There are more pop and classic songs with “September” in the title than any other month.
"September's Baccalaureate" by Emily Dickinson
A combination is
Of Crickets – Crows – and Retrospects
And a dissembling Breeze
That hints without assuming –
An Innuendo sear
That makes the Heart put up its Fun
And turn Philosopher."
On An Apple-Ripe September Morning Poem by Patrick Kavanagh
On an apple-ripe September morning
Through the mist-chill fields I went
With a pitch-fork on my shoulder
Less for use than for devilment.
The threshing mill was set-up, I knew,
In Cassidy's haggard last night,
And we owed them a day at the threshing
Since last year. O it was delight
To be paying bills of laughter
And chaffy gossip in kind
With work thrown in to ballast
The fantasy-soaring mind.
As I crossed the wooden bridge I wondered
As I looked into the drain
If ever a summer morning should find me
Shovelling up eels again.
And I thought of the wasps' nest in the bank
And how I got chased one day
Leaving the drag and the scraw-knife behind,
How I covered my face with hay.
The wet leaves of the cocksfoot
Polished my boots as I
Went round by the glistening bog-holes
Lost in unthinking joy.
I'll be carrying bags to-day, I mused,
The best job at the mill
With plenty of time to talk of our loves
As we wait for the bags to fill.
Maybe Mary might call round...
And then I came to the haggard gate,
And I knew as I entered that I had come
Through fields that were part of no earthly estate.
September Poem by Vinaya Joseph
September, a tapestry of gold and green,
Where summer's warmth begins to wean.
With each passing day, the air grows crisp,
As September's touch leaves hearts adrift.
In fields and forests, a subtle change,
As nature begins its gentle exchange.
Leaves turn to hues of amber and red,
A farewell to summer, softly said.
With every breeze, a whisper of fall,
In September's grasp, we stand tall.
A time for transition, for letting go,
As September's rhythms ebb and flow.
In September's light, memories gleam,
In moments cherished, like a dream.
A time for reflection, for introspection,
As we embrace September's direction.
So let us welcome September's grace,
And hold onto its beauty, embrace.
For in its midst, we find the key,
To unlock the door to destiny.
September... A Month Of Blessings Poem by Suruchi(Sumegha) Salhotra
September, a month so kind and bright,
In your presence, everything feels right.
Each day, you bring new delights,
Blessings that reach soaring heights.
Blessings fall like morning dew,
In September, skies so blue.
A month of warmth, a month so divine,
In your presence, I brightly shine.
Oh, September, serene and fair,
With you, life's burdens I can bear.
You paint my days with colors so fine,
In your embrace, my spirit does climb.
So, here's to September, my friend so dear,
With you, I have nothing to fear.
In your gentle arms, I find my prime,
Oh, beautiful month, you're truly sublime.
The Harvest Moon
The harvest moon shines bright
A spotlight to the autumnal change
The fields abound with a bountiful yield
The sky’s warm glow reflecting in the eyes of the farmers
The harvest moon, a symbol of new beginnings.
September’s Promise
September, a bridge between summer and fall
A promise of change in the air
A testament to the passage of time
Each September brings with it a sense of wonder
September Nights
September nights, the sky a dark blue
Leaves rustling, birds singing
A cool breeze brings a sense of calm
As the day fades away into the night
September nights, a beauty in simplicity.
A reminder that life is full of new beginnings.
