French Trainer Khalil Withdraws FIFA Complaint, Rejoins Bashundhara Kings
French trainer Khalil Chakroun withdraws his FIFA complaint and returns to Bashundhara Kings, resuming his role as head coach.
Frenchman Khalil Chakroun was the trainer of five-time champions Bashundhara Kings of the Bangladesh Premier League last season. He had complained to FIFA about the distance between the club and the club regarding debts and obligations. The same Khalil who had complained to FIFA against the Kings came to Dhaka three days ago and took over as the Kings’ trainer for a second term.
There is no such thing as a foreign coach or footballer coming to Bangladesh after complaining to FIFA against a Bangladeshi club or federation. French trainer Khalil has described that exceptional incident.
Regarding the reason for coming to work at Kings again, Khalil said, “There is a new agreement between the two parties. We have reached a compromise on the past problems. That is why I have asked my lawyer to withdraw the complaint to FIFA. He has already informed FIFA.”
Khalil’s complaint was that he received three months’ salary and bonus from the Kings as per the contract. As the Kings did not pay it on time, Khalil approached FIFA. Although he withdrew his complaint to FIFA to continue his journey with the Kings, he has not given up hope of a new deal, saying, “I owe it to myself. It is correct. These were discussed thoroughly during the new contract. As a result, that problem will no longer exist.”
Khalil worked with Romanian coach Valeri Tite last season. This year, Bashundhara Kings brought in Argentine coach Gomez. Khalil’s comments on the new coach and players, “I am only doing three jobs. As a professional trainer, I have experience working with coaches from many countries, including Portugal and Romania. There will be no problem adapting to the Argentine coach. I will be able to tell you more about the fitness of the footballers in a few more days.”
Along with Khalil, Bashundhara Kings’ former head coach Valery Tite also filed a complaint with FIFA. Following their complaint, FIFA investigated and imposed a transfer ban on the Kings. Khalil withdrew his complaint, but Tite’s appeal remains valid. As a result, Bashundhara Kings’ transfer ban is still displayed on the FIFA website.
