Can We Connect with Omnipotent God?

Life is a journey; it is pleasant, beautiful and enjoyable too, and those who live as per principles and time tested methods succeed in the end. God has sent divine guidance through various prophets and Quran is the final Holy Book revealed upon the Last of Prophets Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). This write up is a discussion about establishing connection with the Divine Power; God / ALLAH.

Can We Connect with Omni Potent God?

"Omnipotent God"; in the context of religion, particularly in monotheistic traditions, refers to a God that possesses unlimited power or authority. This means the God is capable of doing anything, has no limitations, and controls all things. God's power extends to everything, including the universe, the laws of nature, and even the thoughts and actions of humans. As per western theologians there are five primary attributes of God, all charged with the Latin prefix omni- ("all"): omnibenevolence, omnificence, omnipotence, omnipresence, and omniscience?

In the religion Islam; such a God is called ALLAH; and as per Islamic theologians there are limitless attributes of ALLAH, all charged with the Arabic prefix Al- ("the"). However, there in Quran resonates 99 name of ALLAH as his attributes which are mentioned as His Holy names repeatedly in the Holy Book, primarily to help the believers comprehend His essence and nature.

A believer is someone who holds a specific belief or set of beliefs in matters of life. In a religious context; a believer is typically someone who believes in Holy High as ALLAH for Muslims as their Savior and Lord, and whose life is guided by faith and the teachings of the Holy Scripture; as Quran in Islam. Believer can also refer to a person who holds strong convictions in practical terms as well. Every person can connect with ALLAH but he has to be a believer first to have such reference. The everyday life presents every now and then such incidents which enforces wisdom encapsulated in the belief that even a common man can have a connection with ALLAH..

Do You have a connection with ALLAH?

In the following an incident that took place recently; at an airport in Libya; is narrated in the same regards:-

This is the amazing story of a young Libyan pilgrim; Hajj Amir Al-Mahdi; who made to turn back from the sky twice the plane that didn't carry him for Hajj. This incident was discussed in Al Jazeera's program "Shabkat" broadcasted on May 26, 2025.

What happened was that officials at Sabha Airport in southern Libya prevented Amir Al-Mahdi from boarding the plane on the grounds of a passport issue. The flight was announced and the names of the passengers going to Hejaz were called out for boarding, but he was not allowed to board. Then the plane took off at its scheduled time, leaving Al-Mahdi at the airport.

But Al-Mahdi did not show despair, nor did he leave the airport departure hall. He continued to say with complete determination and conviction: "I have submitted to ALLAH for Hajj, I am going for Hajj, and I will go!"

People tried to console him by explaining that the flight has left and it is impossible for him to go; so go home, pray to ALLAH to grant you the happiness of Hajj next year. But Aamir Al-Mahdi did not listen to anyone and kept repeating "I will go for Hajj".

Meanwhile; the destiny had something else in play; as the plane in the air developed a technical problem after reaching a certain height in the sky and had to land back at the airport. There arose an opportunity and a new ray of hope for Al-Mahdi, but when the plane returned and Al-Mahdi was asked to board, the pilot refused to take him in. The plane’s technical malfunction was fixed and it took off once again, leaving Al-Mahdi behind.

But Al-Mahdi was the man of faith; he again showed no despair nor did he go home. The authorities tried to convince him that there was no hope left, but his answer was full of faith:

"This plane won't go without me, it will return;" and surprisingly, that's what happened! The plane suffered another technical problem and pilot had to return to the airport for repairs. Then the pilot proclaimed that "I will not fly the plane until Amir al-Mahdi is on board."

So it happened, Al-Mahdi finally boarded the plane and his joy was palpable. But Al-Mahdi's steadfastness and absolute faith in ALLAH paid off. He is no traditional Mullah but a common Muslim with connection with ALLAH; his and our Creator. Al-Mahdi reached the Holy Land; and in a video, Al-Mahdi was seen wearing th "Ihram" robe of Hajj, recounting the events of his journey and is heard saying: "Alhamdulillah! I have reached the House of ALLAH."

The video went viral on social media and lots of comments are being offered. Some social media reactions are shared here:

One user, "Al-Ibtisama", wrote: "When the plane returns twice just for you, it's not normal. You must have any special connection with ALLAH that He accepted your prayer."

Another user, "Alon," said: "When good intentions precede actions, good faith is strengthened by ALLAH, and trust is pure, only then does such a miracle occur. ALLAH makes everything possible with His power."

Conclusion

The truth is that a cry from the heart shakes the "Arsh" Throne of ALLAH. The One who stops a flying plane is the same One who knows the state of heart borne intentions. Really; Al-Mahdi! There is something special between you and ALLAH…! There is some special connection…. Some very deep connection!! We wish; we are also blessed with it.

The truth is that ALLAH is the Creator and Owner of the entire universe; He has created us and sent us to this mortal world for a purpose. Indeed, ALLAH has command over all the things and does whatever He wishes for. He is the Ever-Living and the Ever-Sustainable and knows even the desires that flourish in everyone's heart. So how can He be oblivious to the open declaration of a servant?

The weakness of man is that he is not aware of his connection with the Creator; ALLAH! Otherwise, ALLAH has declared that if a servant takes one step towards Him, ALLAH will take ten steps. ALLAH is waiting for His servant to confess; O ALLAH! Here I am, O Allah, here I am.
