Butterfly – She Who Walks Between Endings and Beginnings

“The butterfly can only become beautiful if the caterpillar stays brave.”

"When the spirit of nature touches us, our hearts turn into a butterfly!"

"Love is like a butterfly, a rare and gentle thing."

“Love is like a butterfly: It goes where it pleases, and it pleases wherever it goes. If you want to fly, give up everything that weighs you down.”

“How will you know; you can fly; if you never spread your wings?”

The butterfly metaphor means that a small change can give rise to a big tidal wave. The adult butterfly emerges from the chrysalis with its soft wings folded about its body. After a rest period, the butterfly pumps blood into its wings and begins to fly. The butterfly metaphor symbolizes positive transformations.

Butterflies, moths, beetles, flies and bees have complete metamorphosis. The young (called a larva instead of a nymph) is very different from the adults. It also usually eats different types of food. There are four stages in the metamorphosis of butterflies and moths: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Just as a caterpillar undergoes a dramatic transformation to become a butterfly, humans also experience profound personal changes throughout our lives. The process of metamorphosis offers a powerful symbol for our own growth, from periods of struggle and uncertainty to moments of self-discovery and transformation.

Famous for their mystifying change from fuzzy caterpillar to wonderful butterfly, butterflies are a physical representation of positive transformation. A 🦋 story can boost our motivation level when someone's plans to go through a season of growth or personal change. A man helped a struggling butterfly by cutting open its cocoon, but this prevented the butterfly from developing the strength needed to fly, resulting in a life spent crawling. The story illustrates that struggles are essential for growth and resilience. It must be remembered that to overcome obstacles in life we shall equip ourselves for future challenges.

Butterfly symbolizes transformation, beauty, rebirth, hope, freedom, endurance, and love. However; the term "butterfly effect", tells about a concept from chaos theory, refers to the idea that small changes in one system can lead to large effects in another not seen or observed system. This shall be engraved in all humans planning for change in any way that small consistent steps can produce significant changes in due course of time.

Butterflies remind us that growth takes time, change can be beautiful, and every stage of the journey matters. We the humans; the most intelligent beings shall learn the lesson for employing through out into their daily lives i.e. to remain stead fast and encourage to embrace challenges, celebrate small victories, and find joy in discovering happiness for each others relentlessly.

Some Poetic Expressions

In the following; lets read some poetic expressions on the subject:-

Butterfly – She Who Walks Between Endings and Beginnings

The butterfly was not always wings.

Once, she was weight

a crawling hunger close to the soil,

a creature bound to roots and shadow.

But silence held her,

and in the darkness of the cocoon

she became her own fire.

No one saw the struggle,

no one heard the breaking.

Yet from that still tomb,

she rose with colors the earth had never dreamed.

To the people, she is the reminder:

that death is not always the end,

but a passage,

that the soul too must shed its heaviness

before it can return to the sky.

Where butterflies gather,

ancestors are near.

They do not whisper comfort

they carry the memory of becoming.

Her flight is short,

but her truth eternal:

nothing is ever lost,

only transformed.

We call her Tsa’laheen — She Who Carries the Breath of Rebirth.

To a Butterfly By William Wordsworth

I've watched you now a full half-hour;

Self-poised upon that yellow flower

And, little Butterfly! Indeed

I know not if you sleep or feed.

How motionless! - not frozen seas

More motionless! and then

What joy awaits you, when the breeze

Hath found you out among the trees,

And calls you forth again!

An American Indian Legend

According to an American Indian Legend:

If anyone desires a wish to come true they must first capture a butterfly and whisper that wish to it. Since a butterfly can make no sound, the butterfly can not reveal the wish to anyone but the Great Spirit who hears and sees all. In gratitude for giving the beautiful butterfly its freedom, the Great Spirit always grants the wish.

So, according to legend, by making a wish and giving the butterfly its freedom, the wish will be taken to the heavens and be granted.    (The following line is often added when the Legend is read prior to releasing butterflies at a wedding)

We have gathered to grant this couple all our best wishes and are about to set these butterflies free in trust that all these wishes will be granted.

On The Wings of Hope By Ralph Charles Ritchie

As an ancient legend goes;

If anyone desires a wish to come true,

they must capture a butterfly and whisper that wish to it.

Since butterflies make no sound,

They can’t tell that wish to anyone but the Great Spirit.

So by making the wish and releasing the butterfly,

It will be taken to the heavens and be granted.

Although this legend implies that we should keep our wishes silent,

there are some wishes that need to be expressed out loud.

To those that have been touched by the disease we are helping to fight today,

We wish the caregivers strength and tranquility,

and thank them for their gifted labor of love.

We wish the survivors a long and happy life,

and thank them for showing us how to fight with courage and determination.

We wish those currently fighting the battle energy and hope,

and thank them for showing us what true bravery is all about.

And finally, we wish the victims peace and love,

and thank them for the joy and happiness they brought to us.

With this symbolic gesture, we honor those that have left us and encourage

those left behind to continue the fight “On the Wings of Hope”.
