Bangladesh have registered a big 86-run win in the first match of the three-match ODI series between Bangladesh and Australia in a brilliant all-round performance. Electing to bat after losing the toss, Bangladesh scored 284 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 50 overs. Mosaddek Hossain top-scored with 86*, while Nazmul Hossain Shanto scored 67 and Tanjid Hasan played important innings of 54 runs.

Australia were set a target of 278 runs in 42.2 overs under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method due to rain. However, Bangladesh's bowlers kept the opposition under pressure from the start. Nahid Rana took four wickets and Mosaddek Hossain took two wickets to restrict Australia to 191/9. Bangladesh played a much more mature cricket than Australia in this match in terms of batting, bowling and handling of match situations. Tanjid Hasan and Nazmul Hossain laid a solid foundation for the calm team, and towards the end, Mosaddek Hossain's brilliant unbeaten 86 gave Bangladesh a competitive total.
