السَّلامَةُ الرَّقْمِيَّةُ تَـوْعِيَةٌ وَوِقَايَةٌ : Digital safety awareness and prevention
Al Quran is the final Holy Book revealed upon the Last of Prophets Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). The Quran & Sunnah is the only source of holy guidance as it entails detailed instructions for each and every walk of human life. Here guidance from Quran for the followers of Islam (السَّلامَةُ الرَّقْمِيَّةُ تَـوْعِيَةٌ وَوِقَايَةٌ : Digital safety awareness and prevention) is discussed wrt awareness about current digital age challenge, safety and prevention for better living from Quran and Hadith of Prophet ﷺ. This is an approved Jumma Khutba from the Sultanate of Oman and translated in English.
بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the name of ALLAH, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
السَّلامَةُ الرَّقْمِيَّةُ تَـوْعِيَةٌ وَوِقَايَةٌ
Digital safety awareness and prevention
Praise be to ALLAH, who has given us a care, careful mind, and an intelligent, contemplative understanding. I bear witness that there is no god but ALLAH. He is alone, with no partner. I bear witness Our Master and Prophet, Muhammad, the servant of ALLAH and His Messenger the Prophet peace be upon him, is the most keen of people to weigh the matter before it is delivered, and to recognize its error from its right. Peace and blessings be upon him, upon his family, companions, followers, and upon the true believers who follow their path until the Day of Resurrection. The translation of the recited verse are:
أَمَّا بَعْدُ، فاعوذ باللہ من الشیطان الرجیم- بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم
وَلَا تَقۡفُ مَا لَيۡسَ لَكَ بِهِۦ عِلۡمٌۚ إِنَّ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَٱلۡبَصَرَ وَٱلۡفُؤَادَ كُلُّ أُوْلَـٰٓٮِٕكَ كَانَ عَنۡهُ مَسۡـُٔولاً۬
And follow not (O man i.e., say not, or do not or witness not) that of which you have no knowledge. Verily! The hearing, and the sight, and the heart, of each of those one will be questioned (by Allâh).
Surah Al Isra – 36
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُحِبُّونَ أَن تَشِيعَ ٱلۡفَـٰحِشَةُ فِى ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ۬ فِى ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَٱلۡأَخِرَةِۚ وَٱللَّهُ يَعۡلَمُ وَأَنتُمۡ لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ
At another place in Surah Al Noor, He says:
Verily, those who like that (the crime of) illegal sexual intercourse should be propagated among those who believe, they will have a painful torment in this world and in the Hereafter. And Allâh knows and you know not.
Surah Al Noor – 19
O people of ALLAH, fear ALLAH – be pious and obey ALLAH and be of those who consider the outcome of a matter with wisdom and patience and keep your concentration sharp. And he who meditates and is patient is calm in his mind.
Know – may ALLAH inspire you with wisdom – that this time is different from past times, and that our era is also different from the past times. It has reached in its technical development and electronic acceleration has reached its peak, and hardly any sane person would be ignorant that it is a double-edged sword. Some of them makes the best use of it, and some of them – unfortunately – are those who misuse it, and are harmed by it, and some of the images of that illegal use are now surfacing. One of the manifestations of eletronic fraud is the use of electronic means to achieve illegal gains. Before knowing the forms and types of this, the Muslim should know – with certainty – Islam has warned people against cheating. The Prophet said
مَنْ غَشَّنَا فَلَيْسَ مِنَّا
Whoever deceives us is not one of us
Any fraudster is deceiving people, he also warned against taking wealth unjustly and he also warned against using wealth unjustly. Allah Almighty said in Surah Al-Baqarah
وَلَا تَأۡكُلُوٓاْ أَمۡوَٲلَكُم بَيۡنَكُم بِٱلۡبَـٰطِلِ
And eat up not one another’s property unjustly (in any illegal way e.g. stealing, robbing, deceiving, etc.)
Surah Al Baqara – 188-Part
He pointed out – to the utmost level of warning – that the rational Muslim is not a hasty man whose heart is captured by any electronic link, or who is lured by propaganda or a tendentious technique. Rather, He is wise and conscious. ALLAH Almighty says in Surah Al Israa:
وَلَا تَقۡفُ مَا لَيۡسَ لَكَ بِهِۦ عِلۡمٌۚ
And follow not (O man i.e., say not, or do not or witness not) that of which you have no knowledge.
Surah Al Israa – 36-Part
It is stated in the hadith:
التَّأَنِّي مِنَ اللَّهِ، وَالعَجَلَةُ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ
Slowness is from God, and haste is from Satan.
The Prophet peace be upon him said to Ashaj Abd al-Qais:
إِنَّ فِيكَ لَخَصْلَتَيْنِ يُحِبُّهُمَا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ: الحِلْمَ وَالأَنَاةَ
There are two qualities in a person that ALLAH and His Messenger love: forbearance and patience.
O wise and hesitant people! there are many methods and various ways to prevent electronic fraud. Among them is: protecting personal information when accessing electronic communication platforms; Because displaying it publicly, or facilitating access to it exposes its owner to being targeted by malicious people, who will attempt to blackmail him or threatening to harm him. ALLAH has commanded us to be careful, saying in Surah An Nisa
يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ خُذُواْ حِذۡرَڪُمۡ
O you who believe! Take your precautions,
Surah An Nisa – 4-Part
Those who want this electronic protection can turn to trustworthy specialists to benefit from them. ALLAH says in Surah Al Anbiya
فَسۡـَٔلُوٓاْ أَهۡلَ ٱلذِّڪۡرِ إِن كُنتُمۡ لَا تَعۡلَمُونَ
so ask the people of the Reminder [Scriptures – the Taurât (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel)] if you do not know.
Surah Al Anbiya – 7-Part
Parents must warn their children against using any unsafe electronic game, or from disclosing any information or Data pertaining to the parents, or any secret numbers pertaining to the family, or from electronic marketing for anything they know nothing about. Parents should follow up on their children; In the Hadith, the Prophet peace be upon him said:
كُلُّكُمْ رَاعٍ، وَكُلُّكُمْ مَسْؤُولٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ
Each of you is a shepherd, and each of you is responsible for his flock.
There are useful programs specialized in electronic parental control, which educators can activate, or seek the help of experienced people in that۔ ALLAH says in Surah Yousuf.
وَفَوۡقَ ڪُلِّ ذِى عِلۡمٍ عَلِيمٌ۬
but over all those endowed with knowledge is the All-Knowing (Allâh)
Surah Yusuf – 76-Part
It is also technically wise for a person not to disclose any numbers related to his bank account or e-mail; How many people have been hurt because of this! Likewise, whoever owns a store for matters related to technology, and people turn to it, must be honest. This is a covenant, and fulfillment of it is by not divulging it to anyone else. ALLAH says in Surah Al Israa
وَأَوۡفُواْ بِٱلۡعَهۡدِۖ إِنَّ ٱلۡعَهۡدَ كَانَ مَسۡـُٔولاً۬
And fulfil (every) covenant. Verily! The covenant, will be questioned about.
Surah Al Israa – 34-Part
Among the devious methods that some malicious people have begun to use is calling from unknown numbers and requesting secret numbers, so people should beware. – Be very careful – not to be an ignorant, temperamental fool who is hijacked by such communications and respond to what they ask for. Rather, he must be smart and shrewd and think about things. Before it enters, and weighs it with the scales of reason. ALLAH says in Surah Aal E Imran
أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ
Have you then no sense?
Surah Aal E Imran – 65-Part
He should turn to the competent authorities to solve any problem related to this.
O servants of ALLAH, Fear ALLAH – and know that a Muslim does not approach matters without awareness, or enter into fears without realizing it. Rather, he must refrain from with knowledge, and takes care of caution and good understanding.
أقولُ مَا تَسْمَعُونَ، وَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ العَظِيمَ لِي وَلَكُمْ، فَاسْتَغْفِرُوهُ يَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ، إِنَّهُ هُوَ الغَفُورُالرَّحِيمُ، وَادْعُوهُ يَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ، إِنَّهُ هُوَ البَرُّ الكَرِيمُ
I say what you hear, and I ask forgiveness from God Almighty for me and for you, so ask forgiveness from Him and He will forgive you, for He is the Forgiving and Merciful, and pray to Him and He will answer you, for He is The noble righteousness

الحَمْدُ للَّهِ الَّذِي وَهَبَنَا السَّمْعَ وَالبَصَرَ وَالفُؤَادَ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لا شَرِيـكَ لَهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ سَيِّدَنَا وَنَبِيَّنَا مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولُهُ، خَيْرُ مَنْ حَرَصَ عَلَى التَّرَيُّثِ وَالتَّأَنِّي، وَكَانَ ذَلِكَ بِالتَّعَقُّلِ لا بِالتَّمَنِّي، صَلَوَاتُ اللهِ وَسَلامُهُ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَأَصْحَابِهِ الطَّيِّبِينَ، وَمَنْ سَلَكَ مَسْلَكَهُمْ إِلَى يَوْمِ الدِّينِ
Praise be to ALLAH, who has given us hearing, sight, and the heart, and I bear witness that there is no god but ALLAH alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that our Master and Prophet Muhammad, the servant of God and His Messenger, peace be upon him is the best of those who are keen on being patient and careful, and that is done through reason, not wishful thinking. May ALLAH’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family and good companions, and whoever follows their path until the Day of Judgment.
The means of preventing fraud are various, including that a person should not provide data requested from him electronically without verification or identification. Such as data related to the arrival of an item he requested, and not giving any personal data without fully verifying its source. Verification is the religion of the Muslim; He has a great foundation in the Sharia and a straight path. ALLAH says in Surah Al Hujraat
يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِن جَآءَكُمۡ فَاسِقُۢ بِنَبَإٍ۬ فَتَبَيَّنُوٓاْ أَن تُصِيبُواْ قَوۡمَۢا بِجَهَـٰلَةٍ۬ فَتُصۡبِحُواْ عَلَىٰ مَا فَعَلۡتُمۡ نَـٰدِمِينَ
O you who believe! If a Fasiq (liar — evil person) comes to you with any news, verify it, lest you should harm people in ignorance, and afterwards you become regretful for what you have done. (6)
Surah Al Hujraat – 6
He should also be careful not to respond to calls from an unknown source, or calls in which the callers claim that they are from a specific party requesting Important numbers, or from malicious electronic advertisements that indicate that you will win huge sums of money if you provide this information, Or he may be asked to open an electronic link, the source of which is unknown, promising large sums of money. Anyone who is captured by this must not relay any personal information. The person calling is negligent and procrastinates, and he only resorts to the parties concerned with that, and his negligence may expose him to dangers and legal accountability, to protect us. May ALLAH protect us all from the evil of those who tend towards people, and the plots of those lurking. And in the story of Solomon with the hoopoe is a warning for us to be firm and not rush into matters without proof. ALLAH says in Surah Al Naml:
قَالَ سَنَنظُرُ أَصَدَقۡتَ أَمۡ كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡكَـٰذِبِينَ
[Sulaimân (Solomon)] said: “We shall see whether you speak the truth or you are (one) of the liars (27)
Surah Al Naml – 27
O servants of ALLAH, fear ALLAH – and be careful, alert, and aware. Those who are most harmed by such electronic frauds are those who have little experience in the matter of technology, or those who are in a hurry to do something. Trying everything new, let us learn these technologies that protect us, to protect ourselves, our society, and our country. No harm, no harm, and there should be no harm.

هَذَا وَصَلُّوا وَسَلِّمُوا عَلَى إمَامِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ؛ مُحَمَّدٍ الهَادِي الأَمِينِ، فَقَدْ أَمَرَكُمْ رَبكُمْ بذَلكَ حينَ قَالَ
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلَـٰٓٮِٕڪَتَهُ ۥ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِىِّۚ يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ صَلُّواْ عَلَيۡهِ وَسَلِّمُواْ تَسۡلِيمًا
Surah Al Ahzaab – 56
This is what they prayed and greeted the Imam of the Messengers. Muhammad is the guiding and trustworthy. Your Lord has commanded you to do that when He said Indeed, God and His kingdom send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who have believed, pray upon him and grant him peace.
Surah Al Ahzaab – 56
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وسَلِّم عَلَى نَبِيِّنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ نَبِيِّنَا مُحَمَّدٍ، كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ وسَلَّمتَ عَلَى نَبِيِّنَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ نَبِيِّنَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَبَارِكْ عَلَى نَبِيِّنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ نَبِيِّنَا مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى نَبِيِّنَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ نَبِيِّنَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ فِي الْعَالَمِينَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ، وَارْضَ اللَّهُمَّ عَنْ خُلَفَائِهِ الرَّاشِدِينَ، وَعَنْ أَزْوَاجِهِ أُمَّهَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَعَنْ سَائِرِ الصَّحَابَةِ أَجْمَعِينَ، وَعَنِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ، وعَنْ جَمْعِنَا هَذَا بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ
O God, bless and grant peace upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon the family of our Prophet Muhammad, as You prayed and peace upon our Prophet Abraham and upon the family of our Prophet Abraham, and bless our Prophet Muhammad and the family of our Prophet Muhammad, just as You blessed our Prophet Abraham and the family of our Prophet Abraham in the worlds. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious. And be pleased, O God, with his rightly-guided caliphs, with his wives, the mothers of the believers, with all the Companions, with all the believing men and women, By your mercy, O Most Merciful of the Merciful, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious.
اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ جَمْعَنَا هَذَا جَمْعًا مَرْحُوْمًا، وَاجْعَلْ تَفَرُّقَنَا مِنْ بَعْدِهِ تَفَرُّقًا مَعْصُوْمًا وَلا تَدَعْ فِينَا وَلا مَعَنَا شَقِيًّا وَلا مَحْرُومًا
Oh God, make this gathering of us a merciful gathering, and make our separation after it an infallible separation, and do not leave among us or with us any wretched or deprived.
اللَّهُمَّ أَعِزَّ الإِسْلامَ وَاهْدِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ إِلَى الْحَقِّ، وَاجْمعْ كَلِمَتَهُمْ عَلَى الخَيْرِ، وَاكْسِرْ شَوْكَةَ الظَّالِمِينَ، وَاكْتُبِ السَّلامَ وَالأَمْنَ لِعِبادِكَ أَجْمَعِينَ
Oh God, honor Islam, guide Muslims to the truth, unite their words in goodness, break the power of the oppressors, and grant peace and security to your servants. All of them.
اللَّهُمَّ يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ يَا ذَا الجَلالِ وَالإِكْرَامِ، لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ بِكَ نَستَجِيرُ وَبِرَحْمَتِكَ نَستَغِيثُ أَلاَّ تَكِلَنَا إِلَى أَنفُسِنَا طَرفَةَ عَينٍ، وَلاَ أَدنَى مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَأَصلِحْ لَنَا شَأْنَنَا كُلَّهُ يَا مُصلِحَ شَأْنِ الصَّالِحِينَ
Oh God, O Ever-Living, O Ever-Living, O Possessor of Majesty and Honour, there is no god but You, Glory be to You, by You we seek refuge and by Your mercy we seek help, that you will not leave us to Our souls are within the blink of an eye, and nothing is closer than that. And rectify for us all our affairs, O Reconciliator, the affairs of the righteous.
اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا احْفَظْ أَوْطَانَنَا وَأَعِزَّ سُلْطَانَنَا وَأَيِّدْهُ بِالْحَقِّ وَأَيِّدْ بِهِ الْحَقَّ يَا رَبَّ العَالَمِينَ، اللَّهُمَّ أَسْبِغْ عَلَيْهِ نِعمَتَكَ، وَأَيِّدْهُ بِنُورِ حِكْمَتِكَ، وَسَدِّدْهُ بِتَوفِيقِكَ، وَاحفَظْهُ بِعَينِ رعَايَتِكَ
Oh God, our Lord, protect our countries, honor our authority, support it with the truth, and support it with the truth, O Lord of the worlds. Oh God, bestow your blessing upon him, Support it with the light of your wisdom, guide it with your blessings, and protect it with your care.
اللَّهُمَّ أَنْزِلْ عَلَيْنَا مِنْ بَرَكَاتِ السَّمَاء وَأَخْرِجْ لَنَا مِنْ خَيْرَاتِ الأَرْضِ، وَبَارِكْ لَنَا في ثِمَارِنَا وَزُرُوعِنَا وكُلِّ أَرزَاقِنَا يَا ذَا الْجَلالِ وَالإِكْرَامِ
May God bless you and grant you peace of mind. Blessings be upon you. May God bless you and grant you peace. Or Hamara, Sara Rizk, Jalal, or Izzat, Malik.
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا في الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Oh God, my Lord, my heart, this world is my curse, and my hereafter is my curse, this world is a terrible torment.
اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالمُؤْمِنَات، المُسْلِمِينَ وَالمُسْلِمَات، الأَحْيَاءِ مِنْهُمْ وَالأَمْوَاتِ، إِنَّكَ سَمِيعٌ قَرِيبٌ مُجِيبُ الدُّعَاءِ
Oh God! A believer is a Muslim, he is dead or his body is dead, he is dead or he is dead, he is dead or he is dead, he is close to you, his supplication is a religious answer or else he is dead.
عِبَادَ الله-
Servants of God - Indeed, God commands justice and good deeds, and bestows favor on relatives, and forbids indecency. And the denier and the transgressor admonish you that you may remember.
Surah An Nahl-90
