اللُّغَةُ العَرَبـِيَّةُ هُوِيـَّةٌ وَانـتِمَاءٌ : The Arabic language is an identity and a sense of belonging

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of ALLAH, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

اللُّغَةُ العَرَبـِيَّةُ هُوِيـَّةٌ وَانـتِمَاءٌ

The Arabic language is an identity and a sense of belonging.

Praise be to ALLAH, who created man and taught him eloquence. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, without partner. And I bear witness that Muhammad, peace be upon him, is His servant and Messenger, whom ALLAH sent as a mercy to the worlds and as proof against all people. May ALLAH's blessings and peace be upon him, his family, his companions, and those who followed them in righteousness until the Day of Judgment. This is the translation of the recited verse from Surah TaHa:

وَكَذَٲلِكَ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُ قُرۡءَانًا عَرَبِيًّ۬ا وَصَرَّفۡنَا فِيهِ مِنَ ٱلۡوَعِيدِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَتَّقُونَ أَوۡ يُحۡدِثُ لَهُمۡ ذِكۡرً۬ا (١١٣) فَتَعَـٰلَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمَلِكُ ٱلۡحَقُّ‌ۗ وَلَا تَعۡجَلۡ بِٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ مِن قَبۡلِ أَن يُقۡضَىٰٓ إِلَيۡكَ وَحۡيُهُ ۥ‌ۖ وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدۡنِى عِلۡمً۬ا

And thus We have sent it down as a Qur'ân in Arabic, and have explained therein in detail the warnings, in order that they may fear Allâh, or that it may cause them to have a lesson from it (or to have the honour for believing and acting on its teachings). (113) Then High above all be Allâh, the True King. And be not in haste (O Muhammad SAW) with the Qur'ân before its revelation is completed to you and say: "My Lord! Increase me in knowledge." (114) 

Surah Taha – 113-115

O servants of ALLAH: fear ALLAH and adopt piety and obey ALLAH and be aware, proud, and boastful of your religion, your identity, your values, and your language, for they are the capital of nations, the reason for their renaissance, the secret of their progress, and the foundation of their steadfastness in the face of internal and external challenges.

O Muslims: Identity is what distinguishes a person and a society in their beliefs, morals, language, and culture. ALLAH Almighty has made the identity of the Muslim nation inextricably linked to its language. For the foundation of its religion is the Book and the Sunnah, which came in the noble Arabic language; and the pillar of its religion is prayer, whose words are in Arabic; and its constitution is the Qur'an, which came in clear Arabic. And indeed, Muslims in general—and Arabs among them in particular— They should preserve this noble language, take pride in it, and be proud of belonging to it; for a nation that loses its language loses its status and prestige among nations, as language is one of the greatest elements of identity, since it is the vessel of thought. It is a bridge of communication and culture, and the voice of history and civilization. It is not merely a means of communication, but rather the language of the Qur’an and Sunnah, through which we worship ALLAH and recite His book, seeking His pleasure. We understand our religion and gain a deeper understanding of it throughout our lives. Indeed, the nation in whose language ALLAH revealed His final book has every right to be proud of its language and its book. ALLAH Almighty says in Surah Yusuf:

إِنَّآ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُ قُرۡءَٲنًا عَرَبِيًّ۬ا لَّعَلَّكُمۡ تَعۡقِلُونَ

Verily, We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur'ân in order that you may understand.

Surah Yusuf – 2

And He, Glory be to Him, says in Surah Al Shura:

وَإِنَّهُ ۥ لَتَنزِيلُ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِينَ (١٩٢) نَزَلَ بِهِ ٱلرُّوحُ ٱلۡأَمِينُ (١٩٣) عَلَىٰ قَلۡبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُنذِرِينَ (١٩٤) بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِىٍّ۬ مُّبِينٍ۬ (١٩٥)

And truly, this (the Qur'ân) is a revelation from the Lord of the 'Alamîn (mankind, jinn and all that exists), (192) Which the trustworthy Rûh [Jibril (Gabriel)] has brought down; (193) Upon your heart (O Muhammad SAW) that you may be (one) of the warners, (194) In the plain Arabic language. (195)

Surah Al Shuara – 192-195

O Arab Muslims: If Arabic is an identity that resides in the conscience, and a spirit that flows through the joints of the nation, then the duty does not stop at being proud of it, but rather it drives us to serve it and strive to revive it in homes, schools, and gatherings. Let each one of us have a share in this honor and a brick in this structure. So, exert your efforts in learning Arabic and teaching it to your children, for it is among the best things on which they should be raised. And they rush joyfully to it, living in the shade of its beauty, and wandering in the fragrance of its essence. How could it be otherwise, when it is the foundation for understanding the Book, and the key to illuminating the mind to reach the heights of truth? And the Prophet, peace be upon him, linked goodness to the Qur’an, both in learning and teaching, saying: The best of you is he who learns the Qur’an and teaches it, and learning the Qur’an and teaching it is only possible by mastering the language in which it was revealed. It is the spirit of the nation, the language of history, and the key to civilization. With it, we revive hearts, spread light, and inscribe identity on the wall of time. And it is indeed a means of spreading Muslim culture among nations, and of disseminating the guidance of Islam to reach the highest peaks. For if a person takes care of his language, understanding its secrets, studying its meanings and ideas, he will be proud of his identity, and affiliate himself with his Arab heritage. It is inappropriate for a person to learn another's language in all its details, while neglecting to understand his own language and its principles, and remaining aloof from living in the gardens of its eloquence. And the delights of its vocabulary and literature, even though it is the key to knowledge and the means of strengthening understanding. One of the scholars said: "No man has ever thoroughly studied Arabic and then sought knowledge in another field without it becoming easy for him." Another said: "Language is not merely a tool for thought but is thought itself. Through it the mind thinks, and through it consciousness is built."

Fear ALLAH, O servants of ALLAH, and make Arabic a language of the hearts before the tongues, and an educational project for your children that is not delayed, for it is the crown of identity and the banner of civilizational survival.

أقولُ مَا تَسْمَعُونَ، وَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ العَظِيمَ لِي وَلَكُمْ، فَاسْتَغْفِرُوهُ يَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ، إِنَّهُ هُوَ الغَفُورُالرَّحِيمُ، وَادْعُوهُ يَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ، إِنَّهُ هُوَ البَرُّ الكَرِيمُ

I say what you hear, and I ask forgiveness from ALLAH Almighty for me and for you, so ask forgiveness from Him and He will forgive you, for He is the Forgiving and Merciful, and pray to Him and He will answer you, for He is The noble righteousness

   الحَمْدُ للَّهِ الَّذِي جَعَلَ العَرَبِيَّةَ لُغَةَ الدِّينِ، وَأَنْزَلَ بِهَا كِتَابَهُ المُبِينَ، وَبَعَثَ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا خَاتَمَ الأَنْبِيَاءِ وَالمُرْسَلِينَ إِلَى العَالَمِينَ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ، النَّبِيُّ العَرَبِيُّ الأَمِينُ، صَلاةً وَسَلامًا دَائِمَيْنِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الدِّينِ، وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ أَجْمَعِينَ، وَالتّابِعينَ لَهُمْ بِإِحْسانٍ إِلَى يَوْمِ الدِّينِ

Praise be to ALLAH who made Arabic the language of religion, and revealed His clear Book in it, and sent from among its people the Seal of the Prophets, peace be upon him, and Messengers to the worlds. And I bear witness that there is no god but ALLAH alone, without partner. And I bear witness that Muhammad, peace be upon him, is His servant and Messenger, the trustworthy Arab Prophets. May ALLAH’s prayers and peace be upon him, and upon his family and all his companions, and those who follow them in goodness until the Day of Judgment. 

O Muslims: You know the place and status of Arabic in your religion, your identity, your history, and your civilization. So where is your place in relation to your language? And what are you doing with it? Has not ALLAH Almighty made language the foundation of expression, as He, Glory be to Him, says in Surah Ibrahim:

وَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا بِلِسَانِ قَوۡمِهِۦ لِيُبَيِّنَ لَهُمۡ‌ۖ

And We sent not a Messenger except with the language of his people, in order that he might make (the Message) clear for them.

Surah Ibrahim – 4-Part

This indicates that language is a vessel for the message, a gateway to understanding and guidance, and a fundamental pillar of religion and eloquence. It has been reported that Seyyedina Umar ibn al-Khattab, may ALLAH be pleased with him, advised the nation centuries ago: “Learn Arabic, for it is part of your religion.” Muslims in Quran memorization centers have traditionally started with Arabic to teach children to read and memorize the Quran. Since it was firmly established in their minds that mastering the language of the Qur’an is the key to entering its vast expanse in terms of memorization, contemplation, knowledge, and practice, and that learning the mother tongue before others is evidence of a correct understanding of identity. And a strong sense of belonging to it, and that whoever does not master his language will have his thoughts lost and his sense of belonging will waver. Know, O conscious Muslims, that preserving identity is the responsibility of everyone in this homeland; It is the responsibility of the family, the school, the university, the mosque, and the media, each according to its capacity and role. And the language has the greatest share and the fullest portion of this responsibility, so it is incumbent upon us - O Muslims, let us instill in our children a love for the Arabic language, and pride in their religion, whose language is Arabic, and in their Arab homeland, whose Arabic is deeply rooted in history. Indeed, the means of instilling Arabic in hearts are numerous and varied. This includes making it a primary subject in school curricula, which is achieved thanks to God, and making it an authentic means in correspondence and communication, holding seminars, conferences and courses to teach it, and setting up prizes for mastering it in speech and writing. Identity is not a slogan to be raised, but rather a practical behavior and values to be applied, and a language that lives in hearts, souls and tongues, and spreads among the present and the past, and the present and the past.

So fear ALLAH, O servants of ALLAH, and be mindful of your language and values, and instill in your children pride in it, and magnify it in their hearts; for it is the language of your Lord’s Book. ALLAH says in Surah Al Hajj

ذَٲلِكَ وَمَن يُعَظِّمۡ شَعَـٰٓٮِٕرَ ٱللَّهِ فَإِنَّهَا مِن تَقۡوَى ٱلۡقُلُوبِ

Thus it is and whosoever honours the Symbols of Allâh, then it is truly from the piety of the hearts.

Surah Al Hajj – 32

So, if you have mastered your language, then go wherever you wish to learn the languages of the world, so that you may be true advocates of the religion, righteous sons of your nation, beneficial to your homeland, and faithful to your identity and history.

O servants of ALLAH, remember this command of ALLAH:

قُلۡ يَـٰعِبَادِىَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسۡرَفُواْ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ لَا تَقۡنَطُواْ مِن رَّحۡمَةِ ٱللَّهِ‌ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَغۡفِرُ ٱلذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا‌ۚ إِنَّهُ ۥ هُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

Say: "O 'Ibâdî (My slaves) who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins)! Despair not of the Mercy of Allâh, verily Allâh forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Surah Az Zumr – 53

هَذَا وَصَلُّوا وَسَلِّمُوا عَلَى إمَامِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ؛ مُحَمَّدٍ الهَادِي الأَمِينِ، فَقَدْ أَمَرَكُمْ رَبكُمْ بذَلكَ حينَ قَالَ

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلَـٰٓٮِٕڪَتَهُ ۥ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِىِّۚ يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ صَلُّواْ عَلَيۡهِ وَسَلِّمُواْ تَسۡلِيمًا

Surah Al Ahzaab – 56

So pray and send peace upon the leader of the messengers, Muhammad, the guide and trustworthy. Your Lord has commanded you to do so when He said: “Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who have believed, send blessings upon him and salute him with a worthy salutation.” 

He says in Surah Al Ahzab: ALLAH and His kingdom send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who have believed, pray upon him and grant him peace.

Surah Al Ahzaab – 56

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وسَلِّم عَلَى نَبِيِّنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ نَبِيِّنَا مُحَمَّدٍ، كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ وسَلَّمتَ عَلَى نَبِيِّنَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ نَبِيِّنَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَبَارِكْ عَلَى نَبِيِّنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ نَبِيِّنَا مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى نَبِيِّنَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ نَبِيِّنَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ فِي الْعَالَمِينَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ، وَارْضَ اللَّهُمَّ عَنْ خُلَفَائِهِ الرَّاشِدِينَ، وَعَنْ أَزْوَاجِهِ أُمَّهَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَعَنْ سَائِرِ الصَّحَابَةِ أَجْمَعِينَ، وَعَنِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ، وعَنْ جَمْعِنَا هَذَا بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ

O ALLAH, bless and grant peace upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon the family of our Prophet Muhammad, as You prayed and peace upon our Prophet Abraham and upon the family of our Prophet Abraham, and bless our Prophet Muhammad and the family of our Prophet Muhammad, just as You blessed our Prophet Abraham and the family of our Prophet Abraham in the worlds. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious. And be pleased, O Allah, with his Rightly-Guided Caliphs, and with his wives, the Mothers of the Believers, and with all the rest of the Companions, and with the believing men and women, and with this gathering of ours, by Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.

اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ جَمْعَنَا هَذَا جَمْعًا مَرْحُوْمًا، وَاجْعَلْ تَفَرُّقَنَا مِنْ بَعْدِهِ تَفَرُّقًا مَعْصُوْمًا وَلا تَدَعْ فِينَا وَلا مَعَنَا شَقِيًّا وَلا مَحْرُومًا

Oh ALLAH, make this gathering of us a merciful gathering, and make our separation after it an infallible separation, and do not leave among us or with us any wretched or deprived.

اللَّهُمَّ أَعِزَّ الإِسْلامَ وَاهْدِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ إِلَى الْحَقِّ، وَاجْمعْ كَلِمَتَهُمْ عَلَى الخَيْرِ، وَاكْسِرْ شَوْكَةَ الظَّالِمِينَ، وَاكْتُبِ السَّلامَ وَالأَمْنَ لِعِبادِكَ أَجْمَعِينَ

Oh ALLAH, honor Islam, guide Muslims to the truth, unite their words in goodness, break the power of the oppressors, and grant peace and security to your servants. All of them. 

اللَّهُمَّ كُنْ عَوْنًا لإِخْوَانِنَا فِي أَرْضِ الأَقْصَى المُبَارَكِ، وَكُنْ مَعَهُمْ وَثَبِّـتْهُمْ وَارْبِطْ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ وَصَبِّرْهُمْ، وَاخْذُلْ عَدُوَّكَ وَعَدُوَّهُمْ، وَاجْعَلِ الدَّائِرَةَ عَلَيْهِ يَا ذَا الجَلالِ وَالإِكْرَامِ

O Allah, be a helper to our brothers in the blessed land of Al-Aqsa, be with them, strengthen them, strengthen their hearts, and grant them patience. Disappoint Your enemy and their enemy, and turn the tables on him, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ الثَّباتَ فِي الأَمْرِ، وَالعَزِيمَةَ عَلَى الرُّشْدِ، ونَسْأَلُكَ شُكْرَ نِعْمَتِكَ، وَحُسْنَ عِبَادَتِكَ، ونَسْأَلُكَ قُلُوبًا سَلِيمةً وأَلْسِنةً صَادِقةً، ونَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ خَيْرِ مَا تَعْلَمُ، وَنعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا تَعْلَمُ وَنَسْتَغْفِرُكَ لِمَا تَعْلَمُ

O Allah, we ask You for steadfastness in our affairs and determination to do what is right. We ask You for gratitude for Your blessings and proper worship of You. We ask You for sound hearts and truthful tongues. We ask You for the best of what You know and seek refuge in You from the worst of what You know. We seek Your forgiveness for what You know.

اللَّهُمَّ يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ يَا ذَا الجَلالِ وَالإِكْرَامِ، لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ بِكَ نَستَجِيرُ وَبِرَحْمَتِكَ نَستَغِيثُ أَلاَّ تَكِلَنَا إِلَى أَنفُسِنَا طَرفَةَ عَينٍ، وَلاَ أَدنَى مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَأَصلِحْ لَنَا شَأْنَنَا كُلَّهُ يَا مُصلِحَ شَأْنِ الصَّالِحِينَ

Oh ALLAH, O Ever-Living, O Ever-Living, O Possessor of Majesty and Honour, there is no god but You, Glory be to You, by You we seek refuge and by Your mercy we seek help, that you will not leave us to Our souls are within the blink of an eye, and nothing is closer than that. And rectify for us all our affairs, O Reconciliator, the affairs of the righteous.

اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا احْفَظْ أَوْطَانَنَا وَأَعِزَّ سُلْطَانَنَا وَأَيِّدْهُ بِالْحَقِّ وَأَيِّدْ بِهِ الْحَقَّ يَا رَبَّ العَالَمِينَ، اللَّهُمَّ أَسْبِغْ عَلَيْهِ نِعمَتَكَ، وَأَيِّدْهُ بِنُورِ حِكْمَتِكَ، وَسَدِّدْهُ بِتَوفِيقِكَ، وَاحفَظْهُ بِعَينِ رعَايَتِكَ

Oh ALLAH, our Lord, protect our countries, honor our authority, support it with the truth, and support it with the truth, O Lord of the worlds. Oh God, bestow your blessing upon him, support it with the light of your wisdom, guide it with your blessings, and protect it with your care.

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْزِلْ عَلَيْنَا مِنْ بَرَكَاتِ السَّمَاء وَأَخْرِجْ لَنَا مِنْ خَيْرَاتِ الأَرْضِ، وَبَارِكْ لَنَا في ثِمَارِنَا وَزُرُوعِنَا وكُلِّ أَرزَاقِنَا يَا ذَا الْجَلالِ وَالإِكْرَامِ

O ALLAH, send down upon us from the blessings of the sky and bring forth for us from the goodness of the earth, and bless for us our fruits and our crops and all our provisions, O Possessor of Majesty and Generosity.

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا في الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالمُؤْمِنَات، المُسْلِمِينَ وَالمُسْلِمَات، الأَحْيَاءِ مِنْهُمْ وَالأَمْوَاتِ، إِنَّكَ سَمِيعٌ قَرِيبٌ مُجِيبُ الدُّعَاءِ

O ALLAH, forgive the believing men and women, the Muslim men and women, the living and the dead among them. Indeed, You are the All-Hearing, the Near, the Answerer of supplications.

عِبَادَ الله

 إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَأۡمُرُ بِٱلۡعَدۡلِ وَٱلۡإِحۡسَـٰنِ وَإِيتَآىِٕ ذِى ٱلۡقُرۡبَىٰ وَيَنۡهَىٰ عَنِ ٱلۡفَحۡشَآءِ وَٱلۡمُنڪَرِ وَٱلۡبَغۡىِ‌ۚ يَعِظُكُمۡ لَعَلَّڪُمۡ تَذَكَّرُونَ

O servants of ALLAH - Indeed, ALLAH commands justice and good deeds, and bestows favor on relatives, and forbids indecency. And the denier and the transgressor admonish you that you may remember.

Surah An Nahl-90
