A Century of Geopolitical Betrayal and Divine Justice

The modern architecture of the Middle East—specifically the rise of the House of Saud—is frequently presented as a tale of tribal grit and religious revival. This encapsulates the entire saga of a land where profound sanctity and the sovereignty of the Ummah were bartered away for the lust for oil and reliance on foreign crutches. This write up explores the establishment of Ibn Saud’s rule in the Holy Hijaz, the restoration of peace, the foundations of the relationship with the United States, and the historical backdrop of the oil trade.

A Century of Geopolitical Betrayal and Divine Justice

History is rarely shaped by the grand declarations of kings; more often, it is written in the shadows by foreign ledger-keepers and the deceptive scratching of a diplomat's pen. The modern architecture of the Middle East—specifically the rise of the House of Saud—is frequently presented as a tale of tribal grit and religious revival. However, a deeper look into the archives reveals a far more cynical reality. It is a century-old narrative driven by the insatiable lust for oil, foreign dependency, and a shift in the global balance of power. Ultimately, this historical trajectory serves as a profound testament to an unyielding truth: human empires may alter their allegiances, but the supreme law of the Creator remains entirely absolute.

The British Genesis: Shakespear, Ibn Saud, and the Treaty of Darin

The genesis of this geopolitical alliance began in the barren قلب (heart) of the Nejd desert in 1915. At that time, Abdulaziz bin Saud was merely a ambitious tribal chieftain maneuvering through a fractured landscape. The world was consumed by the fires of the First World War, and the British Empire desperately sought a proxy to fracture the Ottoman Empire from within. Enter Captain William Shakespear.

Shakespear was not merely an explorer; he was the first British official to recognize the strategic utility of Ibn Saud. The bond forged between the two men was intensely personal, yet profoundly geopolitical. However, the raw volatility of the desert soon claimed its architect. On January 24, 1915, during the Battle of Jarrab against the Ottoman-aligned Al Rashid forces, Shakespear was killed while directing artillery in full British uniform.

While Shakespear perished, London's strategic ambition did not. On December 26, 1915, the historic Treaty of Darin was signed. This ledger effectively birthed the House of Saud onto the global political map. In exchange for acknowledging British suzerainty and acting as a wedge against the Ottomans, Ibn Saud was granted a monthly stipend of five thousand pounds, modern weaponry, and the protective umbrella of the British Crown. The foundation of the kingdom was thus laid not on indigenous self-reliance, but on foreign gold and imported guns.

The Great Deception: Philby and the Fitnah of Wealth

As the British Empire began to buckle under the financial exhaustion of global warfare, a new character emerged to pivot the destiny of the region. In 1917, Harry St. John Philby (known as "Jack") entered the royal court. Unlike the romanticized militarism of Shakespear, Philby was a calculating strategist who understood that the ultimate vulnerability of the tribal leadership lay in the pursuit of absolute power and luxury.

To cement his influence, Philby utilized a deceptive strategy frequently seen throughout Islamic history: he publicly converted to Islam in 1930, adopting the title "Sheikh Abdullah." This faux-spiritual conversion granted him access to the inner sanctum of the monarchy, transforming him into the chief architect of the state’s economic future. Philby’s exploitation of the royal court perfectly mirrored the timeless prophetic warning of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ:

"Verily, for every Ummah there is a fitnah (trial), and the fitnah of my Ummah is wealth."

Intoxicated by the dream of limitless dominion, the monarchy allowed Philby to steer the kingdom away from its declining British masters. On a historic afternoon journey through the mountains of Taif, Philby explicitly informed Ibn Saud that he was sleeping on top of an ocean of wealth that could buy entire empires. He convinced the King that the British were intentionally suppressing this knowledge to keep the Arabs dependent. Philby successfully opened the gates to a rising Western titan: the United States.

Pax Americana and the Rothschilds' Gambit

In 1933, the signing of the oil concession with the Standard Oil Company of California (which later evolved into Aramco) signaled a massive paradigm shift in global macroeconomics. This was far more than a simple commercial contract; it marked the formal transition from Pax Britannica to Pax Americana.

Behind the scenes of global banking, international financial dynasties—most notably the Rothschilds—recognized that a war-torn, indebted Britain was no longer a safe repository for global capital. The center of gravity for global capitalism was being systematically relocated to Washington and New York. For the American dollar to establish itself as the undisputed global reserve currency, it required a permanent anchor.

By tying the vast, newly discovered oil reserves of the Arabian Peninsula exclusively to the US dollar, the Petrodollar system was born. The liquid gold extracted from the holy lands became the financial engine of Western capitalism. Consequently, the wealth that should have been utilized to foster the economic independence, education, and defense of the global Muslim Ummah was systematically recycled back into Wall Street, indirectly empowering the very financial institutions that would fund the devastation of Muslim lands worldwide.

The Subjugation of Hejaz and the Erasure of Sanctuary

The historical tragedy deepened when this foreign-backed military apparatus turned its focus toward the sacred land of Hejaz. For over a millennium, Mecca and Medina had stood as the collective, universal sanctuaries of the global Islamic world. Yet, driven by Nejdi zealotry and equipped with British weaponry, the forces of Ibn Saud launched a brutal campaign to conquer the holy cities.

Historical records note that conscientious Bedouin scholars questioned the morality of invading the sanctuary of the Prophet ﷺ using the weapons and gold of non-Muslim empires. They warned that “God does not change His law... if we spill the blood of our own in alliance with foreigners, this game will show its true colors a century later.”

These warnings were ignored. The conquest of Hejaz resulted not only in a political takeover but in the systematic erasure of centuries of Islamic heritage, tombs, and sacred architecture under the guise of religious purification. As Ibn Saud assumed the crown of Hejaz, Western handlers looked on with satisfaction, knowing that the ultimate ledger of ownership resided in the vaults of foreign banks.

The Inversion of the Ledger: The Modern Collapse

Fast forward a century, and the absolute vulnerability of this dependency has been fully exposed. The contemporary geopolitical crisis in the Middle East demonstrates how quickly an empire built on foreign leases can disintegrate.

The complete blockade of the Yemeni coastline—specifically the capture of Mocha, Dhubab, and Hisn Murad by Houthi forces—along with the targeted destruction of the crucial East-West Pipeline via drone warfare, has effectively paralyzed the kingdom. Stripped of the ability to export 90% of its crude oil, the state faces an unprecedented structural collapse.

However, the ramifications are not merely regional; they are catastrophic for the entire planet. The modern agricultural complex relies heavily on Saudi Arabia’s massive production of fertilizers and chemical precursors, including urea, phosphate, ammonia, sulfur, and methanol. With these supply chains entirely severed, global agricultural yields are projected to drop by half, triggering an unprecedented global famine.

In this moment of crisis, the illusion of the petrodollar has shattered. When global food supplies vanish, fiat currency reverts to worthless paper; a starving world cannot eat digital dollars. The Western financial institutions that once promised absolute security have withdrawn to protect their own borders, leaving the monarchy trapped within the confines of its own desert.

Conclusion: The Immutable Law of Rabb-ul-Aalamin

The rise and impending fracture of this system provide a definitive historical lesson on the nature of divine justice. The spiritual universe operates on an immutable framework: the law of the Creator does not differentiate between a nominal believer and a non-believer based on empty slogans. He is not merely the deity of a specific sect or family; He is Rabb-ul-Aalamin—the Lord and Sustainer of all the Worlds.

ALLAH's grace and blessings (bounty) are extended to those who exercise genuine justice and show profound gratitude by utilizing their blessings for the collective welfare of humanity. When the immense wealth of the holy lands was weaponized to buy the patronage of foreign masters, indulge in decadence, and fragment the Ummah, the erosion of that power became an absolute mathematical certainty.

Ultimately, the century-long narrative of the petrodollar closes with a stark realization: earthly crowns may be bartered, and the holders of global ledgers may change, but the scales of the Lord of the Worlds remain perfectly, ruthlessly balanced.
